Re: Suresignal has just stopped working after working fine for months?

Hi jemarnold,

Thanks for letting us know your sure signal has stopped working.

Thanks also for supplying your serial number. I've just successfully performed a resync of your device. Please allow up to 24 hours for the resync to complete and if nothing changes try a factory reset.

To factory reset:

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds) keeping the reset button held down.
  • Remove then re-insert the power lead.
  • Once all lights display release the reset button. The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Suresignal has just stopped working after working fine for months?

Hi jemarnold,

I'm sorry to see this hasn't cured the issue for you.

Could you try the following for me?

  • On a PC
  • Click on start and select run
  • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  • A black box will appear
  • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 and press enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply along with the results of a speedtest

Cheers,

Re: Suresignal has just stopped working after working fine for months?

Hi jemarnold

I've sent you an email so that I can look into this further for you, if you could reply back with the details I need, and I will be in touch.

Thanks

Hi sbraynor

I have resync’d your Sure Signal box to see if this is also a problem, if you can perform a factory reset and let me know how this goes.

To factory reset your Sure Signal box:

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds) keeping the reset button held down.
  • Remove then re-insert the power lead.
  •  Once all lights display release the reset button. The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

Thanks

Re: Suresignal has just stopped working after working fine for months?

Hi sbraynor,

I can see the Sure Signal hasn't connected to our servers since 18/07/11.

Has anything changed at your end, such as the ISP, or the router that the VSS normally connects to?

I've sent an email to your registered eForum address. Please reply with the requested details and I'll be in touch.

Kindest regards,

Lee

[ Edited ]

Hi there emilyn,

Welcome to the eForum and thanks for your post.

Can you take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread, and then post back your results if you’re not directed to an existing thread?

Would you also update the thread with your Sure Signal serial number along with the results of a speedtest and a traceroute test?

  • On a PC
  • Click on start and select run
  • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  • A black box will appear
  • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 and press enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply

Cheers,

I have replied to your email.

Hope you can help, this is extremely fristrating and time consuming.

Re: Suresignal has just stopped working after working fine for months?

Good morning,

One of my work colleagues has the same problem with his SS, serial number is 21196835520.

He has tried power cycling it and only the power light comes on.

His bb connection is fine so could you please perform a re-sync on it?

I'll forward onto him the hard reset instructions and we'll take it from there.

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Hi there johnyll,

I've performed the resync for your colleague. Please advise him to try the factory reset and let me know how he gets on.

It might be worth him registering here on the forum, just to save you having to relay messages to and fro :smileywink:

Cheers,

Hi Lee,
Just spoken to our user who reports that his SS is now working fine again. It did take several hours to come online though!
Thanks,

Re: Suresignal has just stopped working after working fine for months?

I have a problem with Sure Signal, which is not working – only the top power light of the four lights is on (steady not flashing), despite numerous attempts to reset (I have factory reset, turned off the router). I contacted Vodafone and technical person ran a test on my upload speed. The figure they got was 0.23 – they told me I need at least 0.34 for Sure Signal to work. Note that my Sure Signal has worked for 18 months on my line. I contacted my ISP, PlusNet, as recommended and they checked my line. They tell the upload speed is normally 0.37-0.40, which should be OK. I ran the BT speedtest and got 448 Kbps. Therefore it would appear my upload speed is OK and not the source of the problem. Is there another diagnostic I can carry out to try and get my Sure Signal functional?

In desperation I found this forum... maybe you can help?

The Sure Signal is serial number 21197157668 and my router is Linksys WAG54GS

I followed guidance above and got:
