V2 Both lights flashing

Hello

Just noticed last night that both the system and call lights are flashing together on my V2 Suresignal. I'm not sure how long it's been like that but it's been a while since I've received any calls at home!

The serial number is 40120148032. A resync and reset has sorted it out when I've had this problem previously.

Thanks

Ste

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

I tried it at a friends this afternoon and it connected without difficulty.

I've plugged it in at home again and it's connected and working! I've done nothing else so no idea why it's working this time and not before, but problem solved.

I too have the same problem but no one is replying to my messages on here. Can you check mine? I have had Vodafone tech on it who say I need my ISP to change settings but its worked fine for past year?

Hi,

Same problem here. I have tried all the possible solutions I can find on these forums but no joy yet. Please help:

VSS serial Number is 40123545143

I have registered, deregistered and re-registered several times

It works fine on my neighbour's ADSL connection (EE)

It has never worked on my ISP - which is fine in every other respect.

External IP is 5.158.94.48 = EMBC Procurement Limited

Ping is 28ms, download speed is 9.86mbs and upload is 1.93mbs

Signal is provided via Ubiuiti Nanostation Loco

Test have been done with direct connection to all combinations of Ubiquiti's RJ45 plug, Asus Wl500 g ( in both Gateway and AP mode), TP-Link TL-R460 and Dlink DIR-655 routers

All the required ports are opened

The VSS has been put in the DMZ

The MTU size is 1500

DNS is supplied (Open DNS first, ISP Gaetway second)

VSS has been "recycled/resynced" by Tech Support

VSS has been "factory reset" by holding button at back etc.

Here is the Tracert

The power light is on solid, the system and phone lights flash together for several minutes - then rest for a while - then flash together again (sign it is trying to download a profile I am told)

Meanwhile tracedump shows constant arp exchenges between the VSS and the Router e.g.

When I configure the set up so I can tcpdump the traffic from the router which has only the VSS behind I get similar constant arp traffic with the vodafone servers (suspect trying to set up VPN?)

This has been going on for several weeks now. I would really appreciate some expert help. Thanks

Hi davidmell,

Thanks for all the information you've posted here. It all looks OK, and it's already taken a few tests out of the equation.

I haven't heard of an ISP called "Ubiuiti", but a quick google search brought up "Ubiquiti". They seem to specialise in wireless connectivity, which may explain things.

The Sure Signal is designed for a cable broadband connection for stability. Whilst a wireless connection may seem stable, if a key packet is lost the Sure Signal will disconnect.

Dave

Hi Dave - The last 250m is by WiFi (n band, 5.8GHz). The feed is 100mbs optic fibre to our school then WiFi from the top of the church. Line of site is perfect - no trees or any other possible obstruction. No trace of packet loss on any of the very many occassions I have monitored. Supplier has many installations with same equipment and set up in other parts of the country with successful Sure Signal users atached.

Hi davidmell,

It's certainly not a case that it won't work with a wireless connection, but with what you'd posted it was the primary culprit.

The box is obviously working as it is connecting on your neighbours set-up. Can I ask if you used the same router and/or Ethernet cables when you tested there? It would help to see exactly what was different.

Dave

Hi Dave,

I used the same cables but a different router on my neignbours' system. I have however tried four different routers on my system - The base Ubiquiti, Asus wl500lg, D-link DIR-655 and TP-Link TR460. None has had any success.

If it were disconnecting because of lost packets would you not have seen it connect at your end then disconnect? I have seen no sign of it ever connecting from my property, in many hundreds of hours of trying.

Hi davidmell,

We can't see this unfortunately as it's not connected to our servers since the 24th October.

I'd recommend speaking to your Internet Service Provider as this isn't a set up we're familiar with and we know it's not an issue with the Sure Signal itself.

Let us know how you get on,

Kay

Hi Kay,

I have been in constant dialog with the tech support of the ISP. They have ensured that the Ubiquiti has the correct ports open, the MTUis 1500 and put the VSS into the DMZ. They have VSSs working in their customers in other locations.

The connection by my VSS you saw on Oct 24th was when I connected it via my neighbough's system. Since then I have done all the tests with all the combinations in my original post. I have worked hard to provide all the technical information that have been asked for in all the other posts I can find. I am more than happy to gather whatever extra information you need to pin down what is happening.
