Hello—can you please let me know why my Sure Signal Serial number 21197145309 no longer works. It was fine until just over a week ago on a BT Infinity broadband connection.

Hi @Fowler

Welcome to the eForum.

I’ve checked the Sure Signal and it’s last showing as connected on 10 May at 03:25.

Please try a different Ethernet cable and to ensure that all the following ports are open as follows:

Ports to be opened for forwarding

  • 8 (TCP & UDP)
  • 50 (TCP & UDP)
  • 53  (TCP & UDP)
  • 67 (UDP)
  • 68 (UDP)
  • 123 (UDP)
  • 500 (UDP)
  • 1723 (TCP & UDP)
  • 4500 (UDP)
  • 33434 - 33445 (UDP)

IP addresses to be allowed on the router & firewall

  • 183.133.177-179
  • 183.133.181-182
  • 183.131.128-191

Thanks,

Sarah

Thanks Sarah--still no joy so have pasted the various test results you often suggest below to see if that helps you diagnose the problem.

Hi @Fowler

Your Sure Signal looks fine from here and it’s connecting to our servers.

What light sequence(s) are you seeing?

Please try resetting your Sure Signal as follows:

  1. Connect device to internet and power supply
  2. Press and hold down the reset button (located near the internet port) until end of the process which will be indicated
  3. Remove the power cable at back of the unit and wait for five seconds
  4. Reconnect the power cable back to device
  5. Wait for the LED sequence to flash from top to bottom and back to top
  6. Wait for five seconds
  7. Release the reset button
  8. Within 10 minutes, all the 4 LEDs will start to flash in sequence – 1st & 3rdthen 2nd & 4th then 1st & 3rd – with the sequence repeated. This sequence indicates the start of the factory reset procedure.

Thanks,

Jenny

Thanks Jenny--tried all this but still get cycling in following sequence: All four lights illuminate one after the other from top to bottom, light one solid, light two flashes slowly, light two goes out, light four flashes, light two solid, light four flashes... and same cycle repeats forever. In other words light four (indicating service) never stays solid. And the only time light three is on at all is very briefly at the start of the sequence when each light is on briefly in sequence from light one through light four. Any further suggestions? Thanks

Hi Fowler,

Your problem is almost certainly due to a failing power supply.

Replacement units are readily available from Amazon or Ebay and cost around £10 delivered.

Regards,

Mike.
