VSS Not Working At All Now!

[ Edited ]

Called support yesterday as VSS was not allowing incoming calls and texts, and having followed every 'fix' suggestion I could find in this forum.

I have factory reset.

I have changed the postscode and back again as advised.

I have switched off and on numerous times.

This affects two handsets.

There have been absolutely no configuration changes made from when it was working for the previous 6 months.

etc etc etc

I realise it may be asking too much for Vodafone support here but here goes...

Please can someone fiix this for me?

You are more than welcome to phone, email, PM, pop round my house... anything to get this fixed!

My serial Number is 40112885823

Both phones using the box are affected (Samsung Galaxy Y and Nokia Lumia 800).

Both phones work perfectly when away from Sure Signal

Speed Test - Download 2.08, Upload 0.36

Dashboard shows:

Serial Number  40112885823
Status active
Location Postcode WV5 7EB
Date of registration 11/04/2012 08:35:00 (Note: this had to be re-registered recently after around 6 months of use as it 'vanished' from my account - no idea why!  I believe this must have happened a few weeks ago as this is when all the problems started)

Note:
Called support 15 Apr 2012 (15:36).  Told SS not configured correctly their end due to a location problem (not postcode), although said the SAC code was correct. Re-synced and reset after 1 hour.
Tested correct over next 2 hrs.

4hrs later noticed no system light on SS (no idea how long this had been out but was on when tested correct earlier).

So to summarise, after contacting phone support (at my expense!) the problem of no incoming calls or texts was fixed for approx. 4hrs but then stopped altogether and now it's worse as I don't have ANY incoming or OUTGOING connection!!

Just called phone support again (08700 776655) who said their internal system to check things is down - Call back later!!  (this seems to happen an awful lot)

Absolutely Hopeless - Can anyone at Vodafone redeem themselves?

:catmad:

Hi

Can you take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread, and then post back your results if you’re not directed to an existing thread?

Thanks

Troubleshooting steps:

Wait 24 hours
Done - numerous times

Check for Planned Maintenance
Nothing posted

Check that your Sure Signal has been registered successfully.
Done and Yes

Check the physical connection between your Sure Signal and your Router/Modem.
Didn't think of that(!) - of course I did, it's fine.

Check that you have an active Internet connection.
I'm typing this so it must be fine

Reboot your Router / Modem
Lost count of the number of times I've done this.

Check that your Sure Signal has been assigned an internal IP address by your Router
It was working fine for 6 months (and last night for 2 hours) and there have been no changes so I've no intention of diving into router configurations for no reason

Manually configure your Router to allow port-forwarding.
As above

Post your Router details.

BT Home Hub 3.0
VSS serial: 40112885823
ISP: BT

PS. Thanks for editing my tags on the first post.  Obviously free speech isn't available here.

Has now been done.

Has now been done.

Re: VSS Not Working At All Now!

Hi RacinFan,

I can see that your Sure Signal connected to our server last night at 21:59.

Due to this it would suggest that there was an issue in configuring the device which has now been overcome, please can you confirm if you are still experiencing issues and what light sequence you have on the Sure Signal.

Re: VSS Not Working At All Now!

Thanks for your post and checking James, appreciated :smileyhappy:

Telephone support last night was excellent and I think they've got it working.  However, it was running for a couple of hours the night before after talking to them then, so I wanted to leave it a few days to make sure all was OK then I was going to post back here.

At the moment it seems there was a config issue...

Will update here when I have full confidence.

Thanks

Re: VSS Not Working At All Now!

Important update to this:

VSS is working fine and has been since talking to support :smileyhappy:

If you are having this problem then THE IMPORTANT PART HERE is that my VSS USED TO WORK FINE so I DID NOT BELIEVE THE PORTS NEEDED setting up again.  THEY DID!

You may need to:

1. Check that your Sure Signal has been assigned an internal IP address by your Router.

2. Manually configure your Router to allow port-forwarding.

Apparently this is due to s'ware updates.

Don't be put off if you're having the same problem.  Changing my port settings was what got it working again.

This should really be highlighted better in the checks to be done - My previous comment that it was working so I had no intention of changing anything was  an incorrect assumption!

Thanks support :smileyhappy:
