VSS Power light only - after following all notes and

VSS purchased on 13/06/12 and I’m still struggling to get it up and running. After the system and phone lights come on and flash for ten minutes they go out and stay out. Modem rebooted. Router rebooted. No difference each time when repeated. I’ve followed portforward.com info' to open ports 50/123/500/ and 4500. Port 8 also opened (UDP) - all inbound. I’ve followed the troubleshooting notes for this thread (last updated 11-05-12 by Lee). I couldn't work out what to do with the destination IP addresses though.
The router has recognised the VSS to some degree as the router settings show an ‘attached device’ with name ‘Unknown’ and with the VSS MAC address, and an IP address of 192.168.0.4 Normally, the only other ‘attached device’ is a desktop computer at 192.168.0.5 and an HP printer at 192.168.0.2 plus any laptop that is being used. VSS has been reset (the system and phone lights just flash once every 30secs or so rather than stay on, and I've assumed that is normal for a reset).
Relevant information:
New Version of VSS (serial number below)
Netgear DG834Gv3 router (out of warranty but working fine with internet access)
PlusNet is my ISP (does not support VSS nor Netgear).
VSS Serial No 40121448274
Green light at back of VSS (RJ45) is on, and yellow flashes sporadically.
Internet connection is active
Modem:
DHCP is ON
MTU set to 1500
Tracert 212.183.133.177 stops after item 7 with 85.205.116.14
Speedtest 1856 down, 390 up
All help appreciated. (At this stage I am beginning to look for my big hammer!)
Waiting hopefully,
Brian W

Hi Dimona,
Many thanks for your time on the phone today.
As discussed please can you keep an eye on this and let me know if anything changes as all of the setup is correct and you should be up and running.
However, as discussed if you are still having trouble please can you try the Sure Signal on a different connection to rule out any equipment faults preventing the Sure Signal from connecting to our server.
Please reply the original email with any updates so we can chase this for you.
James
