VSS2 Up and Down for last two days

My sure signal has been a real plus since it was installed in November with never a problem. In fact it has become my main source of calls and the focus for my business.
However from about 7.30-8.00 pm last night it has been up and down repeatedly. I have been through all the various threads on here and tried the resetting route which seems to solve it initially until the next call comes along and it drops the call upon answering. As I type the signal has just reinstated for the fourth time today after about an hour and a half wait.
I cannot believe the number of people with very similar problems all have faulty equipment so the problem can only be emanating from Vodafone. Can somebody please advise us frustrated customers what the problem is and most importantly what and when the long term solution will be implemented.
I need the phone to run my business and without VSS I cannot make or receive calls.
Help Please.

May be a complete coincedence but last two times SS has dropped signal is when a call comes in on the landline. I have changed the ASDL filter to see if this makes any difference.
Just rebooted the modem and reset the VSS2 AGAIN!
Can somebody shed any light?

Hi kevh61
I’d like to help to resolve this VSS (Vodafone Sure Signal) issue for you, but to do this I will need to take some further information from you.
Can you post the following results to this thread?
Traceroute.
- On a PC / Laptop :
- Click on Start and select Run
- Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
- A black box will appear.
- In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
- Paste the output of this command into your reply.
And finally, your VSS serial number.
Many Thanks
DaveCD

Just to keep everyone posted the current SS drop off is accompanied by only a red light on the SS2 when previously it has been accompanied by two flashing lights.

DaveCD i'm assuming that the information posted on this thread was what was required and you are able to help. It would appear that there are a great deal of Vodafone customers on here who are experiancing similar problems with their SS units and service.
Further to my earlier post i have tested my theory regarding the signal dropping off when the landline receives an incoming call. The landline being the line the broadband is routed through. I have used a family members phone from another network who gets adequate signal in this location to test watching the SS box when making a call to the landline. Almost imediately (2-3 second delay) the landline call is answered the lights on the SS begin to flash and then my Vodafone phone connected to it drops its 3G signal and goes to SOS mode. Leaving everything alone from then after a period of time the system rights itself and connection is restored. Anything from 1/2hr to 2hrs.
I also drop the signal upon answering a call received on my Vodafone mobile after a few seconds.
If a solution to this problem cannot be found very soon the only option i have is to change network to one that i can receive a conventional signal at this location. I have been with Vodafone since my first brick, 15years, but needs must.
Please help.
Kevin.

Hi Kevh61,
Many thanks for all of the details that you have provided on this thread.
Basically it looks like there is an issue on your ISP when it comes to using the landline as it seems that when you use your landline it causing a latency issue on the line which causes the VPN tunnel on the Sure Signal to time out meaning that it can’t broadcast any signal to the phones.
Unfortunately this will need to be raised with your ISP to see if there is anything that they can do for you.
Once this has been resolved we can then look at your mobile if the issue continues.

Hi James,
I have checked this out and my ISP are advising there are no issues with the line.
FYI the VSS has now not worked at all since Sunday afternoon/evening. It has a red power light on and a flashing system light. I have tried resetting the box with no effect.
I do not believe there is a problem with my mobile and judging by the number of issues people are having generally with VSS I am pretty confident that the problem lies here. I am not working at home today but will be back this evening having reset the box again before i left this morning.
In anticipation.

Hi kevh61,
The fact that the Sure Signal drops out when the phone line is active indicates that the issue doesn't lie with the box.
So we can better narrow down the cause of the issue, can you try a ping test both with and without the landline in use. To do this, please go to www.pingtest.net and click "begin test". Once done, post the results of each here on the eForum, although you can remove or censor any secure details.
I look forward to your response.
Dave
