Version 3 Sure Signal (Power - flashing, Internet - solid orange, In Service - off, In Use - off)

This thread's been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

 

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Solid Orange
  • In Service: Off
  • In Use: Off

 

Cause

 

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

 

Troubleshooting

 

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

 

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

 

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

 

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

 

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

 

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Hi Tomtully321,

Let me know which router it is you're using and who your ISP is. The traceroute still isn't hitting our servers, so I'll see if there are any known compatibility issues.

Box fails to this setting too often. Seems to come back after a reset most times (has this time), but is problematic.
Not getting much use, just me out here usually, but I do receive SMS for work purposes so reliability is important.

Uplink speed isn't ideal, but hey the exchange is two fields away, so better than the average ADSL user.

Everything looks absolutely fine with this.

 

Do you know if your connection experiences spikes in traffic? This could cause the Sure Signal to drop out.

 

Other than that, the best thing to do would be to try it on another connection.

I'm sure we get some spikes in traffic, the line certainly is well used, but I'd expect the SureSignal box to recover is that happened.

Again, sitting down this morning the box was in same state, recovered on reset.

So we can identify if it is a fault with the device, we'll need to see how it behaves on another location.

 

Please try the Sure Signal at another location such as a friend or family members.

My sure signal has been working perfectly for some time but now has flashing power and solid orange internet lights. I have tried resetting the unit with no success. Periodically the power light will stop flashing and the internet and in-service lights will turn solid white only for it to revert to the flashing power and solid orange internet light after a few minutes.

Update Before I left home this morning I noticed that the first two lights were steady, solid white. However I could not connect with either wifes or my own phone.

Hi when I woke this morning I noticed I had on phone signal. I have been using the sure signal for over a year now. Anyways I have fallowed the instructions above.
