Version 3 VSS Lights (Power - flashing, Internet - off, In Service - orange, In Use - orange)

This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

 

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

 

Cause

 

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

 

Troubleshooting

 

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

 

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

 

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

 

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

 

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Hello Kay

 

So I have still not been able to get the sure signal to connect at my house.

 

I have tried it at a neighbours houes who has a different ISP and it connected. I tried it at another neighbours house who has the same ISP as me on the 18/3/2015 and they said it briefly had a white flashing light during 19/3/2015 as if attempting to connect, but again failed with the same error.

 

What can I do to remedy this?

 

I havent had it working for weeks now.

Hi,

 

Got a new Sure Signal a few days ago can't get it to connect. I have been on to customer services who told me to add some firewall rules and a few other things which I have done. Also I assigning a static IP to the device and I can ping the device internally but still no internet light.

 

Also I have tried using telent to test out the open ports but even connecting to it internally I can't get any response from any of the ports.

 

I.e. telnet 192.168.1.252 8

 

So it is difficult to know if my firewall rules are working

I am experincing the above issue with my Vodafone SureSignal device at my office in Leatherhead, Surrey. The Vodafone SureSignal devices works OK at my home but not in the office.

Just a quick update - the unit is now working. I left it plugged in overnight, so from my experience it maybe worth leaving it longer than 10 hours before requesting help?

 

That, or Vodafone may have taken some sort of positive action?

Hi.  My new sure signal is mostly showing the red light as solid, but with a slowly flashing internet light.  I have at one point found it with the light sequence as described above, before it reverted to form!
