This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Thanks for getting back to us.

@ M-R-H - It sounds like it went back through the setup but couldn’t complete the authentication stage of the setup.

As all of the tests you’ve done suggest that it should be working and the next thing to look at is the router setup or possibly a faulty Sure Signal.

Are you able to test the Sure Signal on a different internet connection?

Can you try a different Ethernet cable?

Can you also log into the router admin panel and make sure the IPSec passthrough option is enabled?

@ paddyUK – Can you also check the IPSec Passthrough option as it sounds like there could be something stopping the connection when it’s constantly connected.

James

Hi,

This is starting to annoy me now.

I've tried various things having looked through the whole thread.

I've moved the SS to a different socket and attached a different ethernet cable. I've ensured IPSec is on pass-through (it was before), and opened ports 8,50,123,500,1723,4500. uPNP is on as is NAT. The SS has a static address.

After a reset, all was working, and it was still working the next day.

Problem is though, the call quality is awful despite having 5 bars signal.

I've had to switch off the SS in order to have any decent calls today.

Any ideas?

If IPSec is enabled, what would make the connection drop?

I've spent far too much time trying to get something working that should work out of the box.  All very dissappointing.

Hi Kay,

Well, have arranged an exchange and have now set up 40124237203 on site. Still the same light sequence, still the same at my home address (with Sky). Any ideas?

Hi M-R-H,

It's not showing as registered, have you registered this through My Vodafone?

mosspj, Let us know how you get on with your new router.

Thanks,

Kay

Hi Kay,

When the exchange arrived I jumped on to the account and registered it straight away?

Hi MRH,

Can I get you to double-check that new serial number? The one you've quoted above still isn't showing as registered.

Dave

Hi Dave - I'm a numpty!!!

That was the OLD box! The new serial number is 40130618024

New router seems to have solved the problem

SureSignal working again - fingers crossed for now!

Hi James,

I've tried the sure signal on my home router with the same results. Also Regus have confirmed that the router at the office is set for pass-through - any other ideas?
