Solution

Vodafone Sure Signal 3 with Time Capsule

Hi!

So I've got a problem with my SS3. I recently got fibre broadband with Plusnet and used a Apple Airport Extreme with it. All was good in the world. I then got a Vodafone SS3 which worked perfectly.

However, last week I switched the Airport Extreme to an AIport Time Capule (the one with a bulit-in hard drive in it) and ever since then the SS3 hasn't worked. I get a flashing red light with two yellow lights (2nd and 3rd). The troubleshooting guide says it's because the SS3 can't access the Vodafone system, but nothing's changed. I've checked and double-checked the cabling, replaced it with multiple different cable and I've reset the device as well as removing and re-adding the SS£ in to the portal.

Any suggestions? The serial number is 42151635846. The traceroute from my Mac shows:

ok, just to follow up on my own query, I've switched back to the AIrport Extreme and it works fine. I think it's a blocking issue with the Time Capsule which, given I can't configure it, makes SS3 unlikely to work with it

@themistryman

I think you’re probably right.

I’m not familiar with the Time Capsule, but if you are able to configure it in anyway, you’d need to open these ports and IP addresses:

Ports to be opened for forwarding

  • 8 (TCP & UDP)
  • 50 (TCP & UDP)
  • 53  (TCP & UDP)
  • 67 (UDP)
  • 68 (UDP)
  • 123 (UDP)
  • 500 (UDP)
  • 1723 (TCP & UDP)
  • 4500 (UDP)
  • 33434 - 33445 (UDP)

IP addresses to be allowed on the router & firewall

  • 212.183.133.177-179
  • 212.183.133.181-182
  • 212.183.131.128-191
