Hi. I have a VSS 1 which does not now work with my Netgear DGND3700V2 router. VF support says I need to open some ports. PortForwarding setup these ports for me but PortForwarding reports that my ports are still not open. Whilst I am quite a technical person I am at my wits end trying to get this to work. I did try putting the VSS into a DMZ but that does not seem to work either.
I have carried out a full reset of the VSS (numerous times) and VF Support say they have "reset" their end so my VSS will work once it connects.
Please help!

Hi Stephen,
Try replacing your power supply.
Most V1 power supplies are losing efficency due to age.
They are readily available on Amazon or Ebay for around £10 delivered.
It's worth a try!
Good luck,
Mike.

The first thing I would try is a new power cable as suggested by @cineriv.
Please can you describe the lights you're seeing on the Sure Signal.
The ports that need to be opened on your router are as following:
Ports to be opened for forwarding
IP addresses to be allowed on the router & firewall
I can see it's registered successfully, so once the above steps have been followed please perform a reset:

Thanks for your guidance so far.
I am experiencing problems in opening the ports on my Netgear router, especially port 500 which the router refuses to allow me to allocate to the VSS (tried a new router and that was the same). I am trying to pusue this with Netgear Tech Support but they are not much help other than very skilled in reading a script and Googling the probelm.
If you have any suggestions I would welcome them otherwise I will post progress back here as it happens.

Hi @Stephen303
Thanks for your post back.
Unfortunately we're not able to support settings with your router.
You'll need to contact the manufacturers again I'm afraid.
Thanks,
Amanda

HI Amanda
Well, at last I have a signal on my VSS!
I found out that - you cannot open Port 500 on a Netgear DGND3700v2 because it uses a "more advanced security" setup. So says their technical support. So now I have setup an old Netgear DGN1000 and this worked fine.
My question to you tech guys is this:
Do all the VSS require all the port openings or are the newer versions less demanding - i.e. if I buy a VSS3 rather than my VSS1 will I then be able to use it with my far more powerful, but in this case useless, newer router?
Thanks very much for your guidance and help.

Hi,
We recently had the same problem with a Sure Signal device where the 3G signal was disabled. We have checked our firewall traffic and added the address 88.82.13.173/178/179. Are there any further IP address ranges that we need to include?
We already have 212.183.131.128/26, 212.183.133.177/79 included.
thanks.

Hi guys,
@Stephen303 - Yes all Vodafone Sure Signals can be affected by port forwarding no matter the version.
