WNR2000

Hi

I have just bought a new Sure Signal and can't get it to work with Netgear WNR2000 (although some sites say this router works).  I think the problem is that the SS required port 123/UDP to be forwarded to the SS, but the Netgear doesn't allow this.  Apparently the port 123 is reserver for Network Time Protocol (and Netgear support confirm this).

Can anyone give any advice as to how/if I can get SS working with a WNR2000.

All help appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Re: WNR2000

Hi Dave,

Have you tried turning off all port forwarding, and just enabling the UPnP feature on the router. (i think the 2000 has that)

The Sure Signal v2 seems to work quite well with that, and can negotiate which ports are needed for service without any manual intevention.

NTP shouldn't matter too much on a home router, it would be the non-standard VPN ports that would cause a problem if anything...

If that fails, putting the SS into the DMZ setting on the router should mean all traffic be passed to it, so sould then also work if nothing else has port forwarding rules set up.

Hi grolschuk
Sorry to say that taking off Port Forwarding didn't work. Nor the DMZ. Can't seem to find any post anywhere from someone with a WNR2000 that works. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: WNR2000

I'm guessing you followed the setup on portforward.com?

If you havnt looked give it a try. Not sure which version of router your using so i have linked you both.

WNDR2000 v1

WNDR2000 v2

Re: WNR2000

Yes, tried that.  No matter what I do it won't let me Port Forward 123 with TCP/UDP or UDP.

Thanks anyway,

Dave

Re: WNR2000

Dave,

Is there a way to disable network time on your router?

It may be that if this is enabled it's stopping forwards on that port.

Re: WNR2000

Unfortunately the NTP can't be disabled.

I have also tried a DMZ.

Re: WNR2000

Hi cheshiredave

Thanks for your post. I'd suggest taking a look at one of our previous posters here who didn't have UPnP enabled.

If you're still having difficulty with getting the Sure Signal working please let us know.

Thanks

Simon
