Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Software version 1.28.401.9

I get the same issue but no SureSignal involved. Simply turning WiFi on kills my mobile network connectivity. Turning WiFi off again doesn't always bring mobile signal back so I restart the phone.

hope this gets a fix soon!

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Phone HTC One X

Software 1.28.401.9

SS Serial 40120953092

I've just installed the suresignal in my holiday home as it receives no Vodafone mobile network signal.

It all works fine for both calls or data unless I switch on the phones Wifi or even Bluetooth, if I switch either of these on then the SS network drops immediately, turning them off doesn't restore the connection until I restart the phone.

The system light on the SS remains continuously on whether the phone is connected or not.

Please advise what can be done to resolve this issue.

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Hi All

Thanks for your posts. Is this only happening on one specific WiFi connection or have you tried multiple connections? For those with Sure Signals, have you tried a WiFi connection where the phone isn't connected via Sure Signal and do you experience the same difficulty? The easiest way to check this is by switching the phone to 2G and connect to WiFi then try and make a call.

Also, to rule out the possibility of a network rather than handset issue, could you please advise of the full postcode where you're experiencing this happening?

Thanks

Simon

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Hi Simon

I use my One X in several locations that I have wifi access, I have not noticed any problems with calls except when going through my sure signal.

To add to the strangeness last night everything seemed to be behaving normally. This morning back to failed calls or calls not going through the SS. I do wonder if it's down to signal conditions locally as I'm on the Bristol channel coast. I have had problems with phones/network apparently being unable to deal with switching between a local mast and the other side of the channel. My postcode by the way is BS20 8JQ

Re: HTC One X - full signal/zero signal

Hi

That's interesting as I have just upgraded from the HTC Desire HD to the One X and have the same issue.

I have also just come off the phone to Tech Support who assured me that they have never heard of the issue before. The only way I have found to log back on is to switch to GSM and back to Auto in:

Settings

Mobile Networks

Network Mode

GSM only then....

GSM / WCDMA auto

It isn't very helpful of course as the phone keeps randomly logging off and I'm missing calls and it has just happened during a call.

Shame as otherwise I've been pleasantly surprised with the battery life and I really like everything else about it.

Re: HTC One X - full signal/zero signal

Hey guys,

Thanks for your posts about the HTC One X and the Sure Signal (VSS).

After reading the posts, can I ask if any other devices drop signal when attached to the VSS in the same way or is it confined to the handset?

Could I take your VSS serial numbers from you please?

Could I also ask that you provide me with your software version for your handset?

If the challenge is confined to the handset then I expect it's a handset issue rather than a VSS issue.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Hi HarryM

Thank you for ypur post and the additional information.:smileyhappy:

I have checked and can see that there was a known issue on our Faults Board with the network in your postal area which was resolved yesterday, please can you advise if you are still experiencing the same issue.

Looking at your Sure Signal everything appears as it should at this end and I can see you connected to this last night so I do not see it being that but will continue to monitor this.

Many Thanks

Hi DaveCD

Have tested it this morning and so far, even with wifi on, it works :smileyhappy:

I'll keep an eye on it but thanks for your help.

HTC One X not connecting to Sure Signal

I recently upgraded from a HTC Desire HD to a HTC One X.  This involved me changing my SIM over to a micro SIM.  Since then, I have been unable to use my Sure Signal.  The Sure Signal still shows it is connected correctly, with the connection light being lit, but my handset shows no signal.

The same number is still registered to the handset and the Sure Signal, does it register EMEI numbers, or is there something else I need to do?

Re: HTC One X not connecting to Sure Signal

Hi Uziel and welcome to the eForum

Thanks for your post here.

Here’s information on what to do when you change your SIM on a Sure Signal;

Has Your SIM recently been replaced?

When a SIM change is performed it can take up to 2 hours for the Sure Signal system to recognise the change, during this period you won't be able to pick up any signal from the Sure Signal. If you still experience issues after this time then you'll need to remove the affected number from your Sure Signal and then add it back on, this can be done via
My Account.

If the affected number is the owner of the Sure Signal, you'll need to temporarily transfer the ownership to another number in order to remove/re-add the affected number. This can be done by clicking Change Owner on the Sure Signal Dashboard. The new owner will then need to login to their My Account profile and accept the ownership request, before removing and re-adding the number. Once this has been completed then the ownership can be transferred back to the original number.

Let me know how you get on and if you have any more questions, we’ll be happy to help you further.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Hi I am also experiencing this problem. I have a one x with version 1.28 installed.
My sure signal number is 40121012120.
I loose network a couple of minutes after turning on WiFi. Sometimes it will come back bit not always.
It Mainly seems to loose the network when it turns the screen off after not being used for a while.

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Hi robleg4591,

Can you just confirm for me if the issue you're experiencing is specific to when you connect to the network or the Sure Signal or if it happens either way?

If it happens regardless of the type of connection, it's unlikely to be something specific to the Sure Signal, so as mentioned can you confirm your postcode as well for me?

Dave

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

I seem to be having a very similar problem, but messing with wifi does not seem to help:

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Sure-Signal-and-the-HTC-One-X/td-p/1107959

Hi

I've had the HTC One X for a couple of weeks now and have quite a serious (for me) problem.

We've had Vodafone phones at my business for a couple of years and as our factory / office is in a signal black spot we got a sure signal to ensure the connection. Had no problems with a BlackBerry Bold and my old HTC Legend.

2 Weeks ago I upgraded to the HTC One X. Immediately I had an OTA.

I find that whenever I take a call in the office, right next to the SS, the phone drops the H/3G data connection and the call quality is appalling or the call is dropped totally.

Work Around: I can swith the phone to WCDMA only and this stops the disconnection, however when I'm not in a 3G area I obviously get no signal.

Reason: From this thread it looks as if HTC disabled DTM - Dual Transfer Mode in an update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26085610

Can I ask if this is correct and is there a better solution for me as the phone is not really fit for purpose if it can only be used in 3G mode!

Just done another OTA to 1.29.401.7 and this has not helped.

Any feedback/help really appreciated.

Cheers

Craig

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Mine is the same. As soon as I turn WiFi on the phone disconnects from the sure signal. I have the new software released a few days ago.

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Hello,

My new HTC one X keeps loosing signal when its connected through my suresignal.

my receptioin only only lasts for about 5mins & then nothing, I have to restart phone to gain signal again but only for another 5mins!!

My wife has a phone on my suresignal and its working just fine.

Do I need a software update from HTC to sort a possible bug in phone? as it`s not worth having at moment.

I hope someone can help me as i really like my new handset, but i need a reliable connection.

Many thanks,

John Matheson

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your posts here.

I think that we have done all of the tests that we can over the eForum and as a result I am going to send a PM to shenderson8 and mattspark who are the last users on this thread to see if we can get some more details and get this raised for you all.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

Any news on this issue?

3 HTC phones and palm pre 3 all connect perfectly to wi-fi and VSS.

One X connects to VSS phone signal and wi-fi when I first come into range but the looses phone signal. Airplane mode on/off cures it for a while or changing preferred network mode to wcdma only for a short period.

HOX 1.29 s'ware

VSS (v2.0) serial # 40120547746

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

This issue is back for me too.

Been away for a few days and on my return it's back to wifi off to connect through the SS reliably. Resets etc don't make any difference and other handsets continue to work quite normally.

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

James

There are several threads all about this sort of issue. Can we get an answer on where the problem lies as I might need to swap my phone for another model.

You're more than welcome to PM me if I can help troubleshoot.

Re: HTC One X wifi causing connection issues

As suggested earlier in the thread switching to WCDMA only mode when in range of the Sure Signal works and allows data to go over wifi. Hope this is sorted in a firmware update soon!
