[ Edited ]

Hi MorganBalla

There is workaround for such a scenario which I have copied from our SureSignal Troubleshooting thread, please follow this and let me know how you get on. :smileyhappy:

When a SIM change is performed it can take up to 2 hours for the Sure Signal system to recognise the change, during this period you won't be able to pick up any signal from the Sure Signal. If you still experience issues after this time then you'll need to remove the affected number from your Sure Signal and then add it back on, this can be done via My Account

If the affected number is the owner of the Sure Signal, you'll need to temporarily transfer the ownership to another number in order to remove/re-add the affected number. This can be done by clicking Change Owner on the Sure Signal Dashboard. The new owner will then need to login to their My Account profile and accept the ownership request, before removing and re-adding the number. Once this has been completed then the ownership can be transferred back to the original number.

Hi Andrew_McCreath

I have resynced your device, please try to reconnect and follow the steps above if this has not been successful and let me know how you get on.

Many Thanks

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

I'm having exactly the same problem with mine. I originally had a bold 9900 and changed the sim to a microsim so I could use it in my iPhone 4s. I get full bar but then the signal goes down as it normally would if I walked around the house without the suresignal switched on.

I've reset network settings on my iPhone, I have tried a factory reset and nothing.

VSS 40114261080

Can someone help?

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hey rscoley,

Thanks for your post.

I've checked the VSS and can see it's been flagged for a resynchronisation. I've therefore forced this through for you. Could you factory reset the device and let me know if there are any remaining issues?

  • Hold the reset button till all the lights come on or flash (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the reset button held, remove and re-insert the power lead
  • Once all the lights come back on or flash, release the reset button
  • The VSS will come online within the hour

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Iphone4s and Sure Signal

PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY !!!!!!!

I have recently changed from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4S, and like many people on these forums my new phone will not connect up with my Sure Signal.

I have had Sure Signal for approx 2 years and all has been well, with my Wife, My Son and myself benefiting from the Sure Signal service (though I still feel a little annoyed at having to purchase one of these things in the first place).

I have now (as stated) changed to an iPhone 4S (Kept my original number but now with NEW MicroSim) and just cannot connect to the Sure Signal service. I am now at the end of my tether, and after many years of being a Vodafone customer I am now seriously considering an alternative provider.

I have tried just about everything......

1. De-Registering the Sure Signal and then Re-Registeried it. - Done this twice.

2. Registering the Sure Signal in my wifes name and added my number to that. - Tried this twice.

3. Contacting Vodafone support to have Sure Signal re-Synchronised from their end. -  Done this THREE times.

4. Placed phone on top of Sure Signal and done a RESET NETWORK on phone - THREE times

5. Placed phone on top of Sure Signal and turned on Airplane Mode for 1 Hour then Turn Off Airplane mode - Number of times !

6. Rebooted Sure Signal & Modem/Router - Several Times.

All other phones continue to use Sure Signal. I am now hearing this is a common problem, but have persisted as I continually read about users who have somehow managed to get their iPhone 4S working on Sure Signal, so am determined to ensure I have exhausted ALL possibilities before I change provider.

Kind Regards

Gary Robertson

Re: Iphone4s and Sure Signal

Hi

I am new to Vodafone, coverage map said I was covered but can't get a signal anywhere except to bedroom, so I paid out for a VSS and still can't get a signal, from what I can tell from the other posts it may be something to do with the fact I have a iPhone 4s or the VSS needs re-syncing.

Please help, my serial is 40112802984

I have rebooted routers, VSS, tried every slot in the router every combination in every way except standing on my head.

I look forward to you getting in touch

Re: Iphone4s and Sure Signal

Hi Guys,

@ simdeakin08, looking at the registration everything looks fine and a connection was made yesterday. I have re-synced the Sure Signal today, please can you give this one hour and let me know if the issue continues.

@ GaryRobertson, to be honest there is no reason why the iPhone shouldn’t be working with the Sure Signal as the only issue it will normally have is for the signal from the network to hand over to the iPhone if a call or data connection is still active which is resolved by toggling the airplane mode.

Firstly can I ask for the Sure Signal serial number?

Secondly, how long have you had the new SIM? Do you have a friend’s iPhone that you could test your SIM in to see if there is an issue with the phone or SIM?

Do you have issue picking up the network whilst out and about?

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi

Just checked (after the resync/ reset) and my wifes 4S is still very intermitent - no bars right now. I'm sat with my iPhone 4 about 1 meter away and have 3 bars only.

Could you have a check, and contact me directly if you think something else could be up please?

Much obliged,

Andrew

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi Andrew_McCreath,

Can I ask where the sure signal is located in regards to your router?

The reason that I ask is that it is strange that you aren’t seeing full 3G signal on either phone.

I would recommend moving the Sure Signal away from the router to begin with to see if this improves the signal on your phone however in regards to your wife’s iPhone 4S please can you try to put the iPhone 4S into airplane mode and then back into normal mode and also remove and add the number for this phone on the Sure Signal.

If this still doesn’t work, please let me know so I can feed it back for you.

James

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi - The router is nearly a metre away from the router, I don't think the wire will reach any further.

I have a BT HomeHub 3, an Apple Time Capsule Gen4 connected along with this femtocell.

Any advise you could give would be great.

Best regards,

Andrew

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi Andrew,

This is getting more curious!

Looking at the VSS I can see it's regularly connecting to the servers. Are you able to try any other 3G enabled phones to see if they show full signal?

The VSS should provide full bars rather than 1 or 3 bars. I've just checked the coverage map and there's no 3G available at your postcode at all so the fact you're picking 3G up would mean the VSS is doing its job! I'm sure you'd argue that point though :smileywink:

What happens if you switch SIM cards?

Is there any change?

Does your SIM in your wife's phone also show 1 bar?

Does your wife's SIM in your phone show 3 bars?

In essence I'm trying to establish if the SIM cards could be at fault or possibly the handsets ability to pick up a full signal from the VSS.

If you could try these suggestions it would be a great help.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

ive spent probably 4 hours today trying to get my 4s to connect and i think ive cracked it..

To get my 4S to connect to the SS i have to :

Be next to your SS when doing this

Open Settings> Carrier

Turn OFF 'Automatic'

When (after around 3-4 minutes) of searching,  you get the list of providers, select a network that you DONT have access to.

Dont exit from the Network Selection screen.

Wait a few moments. When your signal meter changes to 'No Service' reselect Vodafone UK

My 4S will then connect to the SS. If i leave the house I have to redo the above, else it will not reconnect again. Turning Automatic back ON seems to be ok after you haev completed the above.

Hope this helps some people.

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Bought an iPhone 4S on Vodafone yesterday and it will not connect to my Sure Signal.  Have tried many of the suggestions in this forum such as SS reset, delete and re-add new number, switch iPhone to airplane mode and back, no success.  I also have an iPhone 4 (not S) that connects just fine, as do some other non Apple phones.

SN 40112224932 - grateful for any help from Tech team.  Thanks.

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Dear Trev,

We have the same problem. Use an iphone 4s and have hard restarted the SS 3 times today and we have only the power light on after it has searched.  Our serial number is 40113134346.

We have had no luck with tech support in Egypt and wonder if someone can get back to us?  Is this something you can fix your end?

many thanks

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi guys,

darkone338 - Thanks for posting that. If you can confirm your Sure signal serial number for me, though, we may be able to stop you needing to do that, as it appears that the network is not handing over to the Sure Signal properly.

----------------------------------------------------------

stevendg - I've re-synced your Sure Signal for you. Can you perform a factory reset for me to complete this?

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the reset button held down, remove then re-insert the power lead.
  • Once all lights display release the reset button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

----------------------------------------------------------

matala - If only the power light is showing, this means that the Sure Signal is not connecting to the internet.

Please can you try the steps in this section of our Sure Signal troubleshooting thread?

Let us know how you get on.

----------------------------------------------------------

Adeph - Which lights do you have showing on the Sure Signal box? If you have the newer box, you're looking for the power and system lights, whilst with the older one, it’s lights 1, 2 and 4

If when your wife upgraded the SIM changed, then you may need to follow the steps listed here for a change of SIM card with your Sure Signal.

Again, let us know if this page helps.

Dave

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi Dave,

My Sure Signal is the older version - serial number: 21223168267

The lights displaying on it are 1,2 & 4.

My iPhone 4 connects to it without problem, and indeed my wife's old iPhone 3G also connected to it without issue.

A few days ago she upgraded her phone, with Vodafone, to a new iPhone 4S.  This new phone needed a new sim, although she retained the same phone number.  I have tried all the suggestions in this forum such as SS reset, delete and re-add new number, switch iPhone to airplane mode and back, and still no success.

Having read through this entire thread, it appears to me that the only way to resolve the issue is for Vodafone to re-sync the SS at their end.  Therefore, please can you arrange for this to be done ASAP.

Failing this, we will need to request a full refund for the iPhone 4S from Vodafone, because without a signal at home it is useless.  I am extremely disappointed about this, because I specifically asked in the shop when we bought the upgrade, if it would connect to the Sure Signal without issue, and we were told that it would.  This is clearly not true!

Many thanks
