Re: Wife's new iPhone 4s not connecting to sure signal.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your posts regarding your Sure Signals.

I'll address each one of you in turn:

@yorkster11 - I'm pleased to see you're up and running.

@Sean1974 - I've forced the resync for you. Please factory reset the unit and let me know how you get on.

@rharries - I've also forced a resync for you. Could you also reset the VSS and try yorkster11's workaround?

@sspogman - The resync has also completed. Please also factory reset the device and follow the tips from yorkster11.

Factory Reset

  • Hold the reset button till all the lights come on or flash (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the reset button held, remove and re-insert the power lead
  • Once all the lights come on, release the reset button
  • The VSS should come online within the hour

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Wife's new iPhone 4s not connecting to sure signal.

That's great, thanks Lee.

I've just de-registered the SS, I'll pop upstairs in a minute and unplug it. In the morning I'll reconnect it all and do the factory reset. If that doesn't work then I'll be off to the Apple store to politely request a replacement handset, shouldn't be a problem as this one is less than a week old.

I'll update you once I've had a go at getting it all back online again tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Steve.

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi

My Son is home for the Easter weekend with his new iPhone 4S, I have registered it and he received the welcome text but he can't connect.

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Well, I did the factory re-boot and hooked up the SS this morning, then spent all day in the garden. I came in to the house and had very poor signal. However, when I went upstairs to check the SS the activity light was on and I had good signal - I can only presume that it took a few seconds to hook up.

Anyway, all seems good at the moment so thanks, very much appreciated.

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hey eaglealan64,

Thanks for your post about your VSS and iPhone.

I've forced a resync of your VSS.

Please follow the hints from yorkster11 and perform a factory reset for me.

Cheers,

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

My wife has just got a iphone 4s and its not working on my vodafone SS. Her old 3GS worked fine.

I have removed her number and readded it under my account settings and still no joy.

I upgraded my iphone 3GS to a 4S 4 months ago and had no issues. Can you possiably try a re-sync. My serial number is 21230218063. Let me know if you need any further information.

Thanks

Chris

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi  I upgraded from iphone 3GS to 4S on Saturday and my phone will not connect with my VSS despite vodafone customer services getting me to turn off my phone, factory re-set the VSS, go from Carrier to Carrier etc.etc.   Will this 're-sync' that people mention work?  My VSS serial number is 21196764688.

RE: message 136 and 137.... Still waiting for those details Vodafone!
I submitted my mail to you but have heard nothing back...

Do we really have to do this dance or are we going to resolve this amicably ?

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi Wayne - nope still not working.   Ironically someone from Vodafone rang to see how I was getting on with Vodafone services and the signal dropped out again.  She probably thought I didn't want to speak to her and had hung up as she didn't call back!

This is very frustrating to say the least

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

...... still not linked up with my VSS since upgrading from the 3GS to the 4S :smileymad:

Two days now, lost count of Vodafone staff and departments passed between, countless times that my VSS has been re-set, various settings on my phone changed backwards and forwards, even airplane mode (why?) !   Re-set this and re-set that, speed of VSS checked, serial number of sim added to VSS and now a new sim card and guess what?  Yep, it STILL doesn't work!    In desperation I called 191 again tonight at 7.30pm so I could hopefully get a new solution but I was passed backwards and forwards between departments - even Sales! - and you guessed it, by the time they tried to put me through to technical THEY HAD CLOSED!

Despite Vodafone saying that only a few iphone 4S phones are affected by this problem, I don't believe it - this post was created last year in October and they are still receiving posts.

Can anyone tell me.  Is it 7 days from that date of my upgrade that I can change my mind and ditch the new phone AND new contract?

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi guys,

Thanks for your posts.

@ darkone338 - I can see your email in our queue. One of the team will be with you as soon as they can.

@ Cathyb544 - Upgrading from the 3GS to the iPhone 4s means a change of SIM card from a standard SIM to MicroSIM. In this event, a change of SIM card will throw the VSS into thinking the standard SIM is the one that should still be connected.

I notice there's only one number registered to your VSS. Could you add a second number by any chance and assign that secondary number as the owner of the VSS for a short time then reassigning your number as the owner?

You can do all this in the VSS dashboard within My Account :smileywink:

Taken from one of our troubleshooting threads:

Has Your SIM recently been replaced?

When a SIM change is performed it can take up to 2 hours for the Sure Signal system to recognise the change, during this period you won't be able to pick up any signal from the Sure Signal. If you still experience issues after this time then you'll need to remove the affected number from your Sure Signal and then add it back on, this can be done via My Account

If the affected number is the owner of the Sure Signal, you'll need to temporarily transfer the ownership to another number in order to remove/re-add the affected number. This can be done by clicking Change Owner on the Sure Signal Dashboard. The new owner will then need to login to their My Account profile and accept the ownership request, before removing and re-adding the number. Once this has been completed then the ownership can be transferred back to the original number.

If this fails to remedy the issue then could you also try yorkster11's suggestion and let me know how you get on?

Also, to answer your question about a change of mind; you have 7 days from the receipt of your upgraded device to change your mind :smileywink:

Cheers,

Lee

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi Lee I have previously de-registered and re-registered my VSS but it did not work.   I have now tried to add a new user as owner (it says administrator - is that what you mean?)  as you suggest but so far no confirmation email as been sent to their email address!  How long does it usually take?

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Hi Lee

Well, that's really handy - NOT.    I did as you asked and registered another vodafone number as the administrator/owner on my VSS and it's now shown as 'admin-pending'.

The owner of the number I registered received an email from Vodafone as follows

Miss Fed Up (ok not my real name but is sure heading that way!)  would like you to help them with their Vodafone Sure Signal in postcode CMXX XXX  To accept go to vodafone.co.uk/myaccount, log in and go to My Sure Signal at the top of the page

...... the only trouble is they don't have a Vodafone 'myaccount' set up or even a VSS so now I have a message pending on my VSS until the other user confirms their message from Vodafone, which they can't do 'cause they don't have an account.  SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!

Re: iPhone 4S not connecting to ss

Upgraded to a 4s from the 3 on Monday - had no signal in my house since then, very frustrating as I am missing important calls.

Called vodafone and they have done the resync - wait 6 hours, reset network settings, airplane mode.

Garrrr - help please!

Re: Iphone4s and Sure Signal

[ Edited ]

I am having the same trouble with connecting a new iPhone 4 I purchased at the week end. It needed a new SIM card but retains the same number. However, I am unable to view any tabs on the SURE SIGNAL page on teh website where I can add or indeed check the numbers which are registered. All I can see are the "Register another Sure Signal" or "Remove Me" boxes......

Any Ideas ?????
