iphone 5 not automatically connecting - having to switch phone on and off to connect to VSS

as title any ideas? its been doing this for a while intermittently and now happens almost every time phone is out of range(out of house) of VSS.

Have you tried de registering your number and then re register. 

Which SS model do you use ?

Try toggling off 4G in the phones settings so it only searches for 3G which is what the SS transmits.
