sure signal problem

Hi I have recently moved to sky BB, I have connected my VSS box but only got green flashing power light can you enable this at your end for me my ip address is 2.220.95.106

Sorry this is the correct traceroute i put the ip address in wrong ....does this still show my vss as faulty.....

Hi nightingalecour,

 

The Traceroute actually checks the connection from the computer to the router via your ISP to our servers - the Sure Signal itself isn't involved. You can think of it like a branch line on a rail network's main line.

 

That said, the aim of the traceroute is to show the time taken at each step between your router and our servers, and to check that it is reaching them. Ideally you should be getting low times and reaching the servers you hit on the last check - beginning "85.205".

 

On this new check, the times are getting particularly long and, at times, very close to the 200ms timeout for the Sure Signal, and the connection is not hitting our servers at all. If you're switching regularly between these sorts of results then this would suggest an issue with the connection and not necessarily the Sure Signal.

 

I'd suggest passing this traceroute to your ISP and asking them to look into the lag shown on step 12 and beyond.

Hello

 

I am new to this forum and it doesnt make it easy to ask a new question!

 

I have a VSS box- was working fine with old router, and broadband from Talk Talk up until December 2012

 

My internet speed dropped of the radar [below old dial up speed] and so I decided to change provider back to BT, so today have received new Home Hub.

 

Home hub working ok. Internet now faster than before [still not great, but ok].

 

Have spent a few hours on phone to your tech team, and BT.

 

Have changed Sure Signal assigned IP Address Ports as instructed  as follows:

 50 TCP UDP Port 500 TCP UDP Port 4500 TCP UDP Port 8 TCP UDP Port 123 TCP UDP Port 1723 TCP UDP

 

After a flashing light sequence on the VSS- I now have 2  constant lights only. The 'mobile' icon and the 'tick' icon are out. I am close to throwing it, and Vodafone, out of the window.

 

Please help!
