Lumia 800 and contacts issue!

Hi there, i have just upraded my phone from the N8 to the Lumia 800..

Everything went fine, used the contacts transfer to send my contacts to my lumia from the n8, worked a treat, i got my 198 numbers across in no time.

I then decided to log into my windows live hotmail.. i wish i never did now,. its integrated all my msn contacts, and i mean hundereds of contacts that i never even talk to anymore into the People tab on my phone.. I DO NOT want all these here... how the hell do I seperate mt 'phone book' from all these rubbish contacts that have appeared???

this is now driving me mad, if I tell it to filter the windows live contacts, all my numbers that i sent across from my n8 dissappear too...

thanks

Daniel

Sorry it was quite waffly before, Basically MSN/Hotmal accounts on a Windows Phone device are the only ones where you are unable to de-select contacts sync - all other exchange based accounts you can.

As such any contacts you currently have on your MSN account will sync over as soon as you add the hotmail/MSN account to your phone.

There are 2 solutions that you can look at:

1. Organise all of your contacts on your MSN account accordingly and sync contacts over to your MSN account, after you have done this then add all other accounts such as Facebook etc (if you want too) then link your contacts on your phone (very quick and easy to do).

2. Create a new MSN account specifically for your phone (if you want to do this)

I opted for option 1, i deleted all but the contacts i actually wanted on MSN (a long overdue clean up) and synced all contacts to my MSN account and spent time linking the contacts to the phone. I actually use the contacts on GMAIL and not MSN and any new contacts i create i do so on GMAIL.

Not the most ideal solution however this is how Microsoft have designed Windows phone, they want to fully intergrate your live account to the device so you use their cloud services moving forward.

One thing you will notice. MSN chat is fully intergrated to the phone and you can switch this on/off so you will be able to chat to your MSN contacts on the go.

Re: Lumia 800 and contacts issue!

thanks for the response..

However since I posted I persevered with it and deleted all the random contacts from my windows live that have accumulated since it was opened Feb 2000 lol!

The people tab now works a treat and the windows live and facebook integration is pretty awesome once its set up correctly!

Im now very pleased with this handset! :smileyhappy:

Excellent :smileyhappy: i found it was very intuitive to use and link contacts. I would certainly recommend adding contact groups to the start screen (Pin a group) very handy
