How do the specifications stack up against rival phones?

What processor does the phone have?
The Nokia Lumia 800 comes with a 1.4GHz Scorpion processor.
What operating system does the phone run on?
The Nokia Lumia 800 comes with Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
How big is the screen?
The 480x800 pixels AMOLED capacitive touch screen measures 3.7 inches.
Does the camera have a flash on it?
Yes, the camera has a dual LED flash for a sharper picture in low light.
How many megapixels does the camera have?
The Nokia Lumia 800 has an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus.
What quality is the video?
You can use the camera to record HD video up to 720p at 30 FPS (frames per second).
Does the Lumia have Bluetooth?
Yes, it comes with Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR.
Can you connect to another phone using Bluetooth?
The Nokia Lumia 800 doesn’t support handset to handset connectivity unless you are transferring your contacts through the contacts transfer application.
Does it have short dial?
There is no speed dial option on the phone however you can use voice activation by holding the home button and saying call followed by the contact's name.
Can it view Flash video?
Yes, the Nokia Lumia 800 comes ready to play Flash video content.
Can you stop the phone from Syncing to save data allowance?
There isn’t an option to turn off syncing of data in the back ground however you can completely disable the internet connection in settings and mobile network.
When will the Lumia 800 support tethering like most other Windows Phones?
Unfortunately at this moment in time the Nokia Lumia 800 doesn’t support tethering however, Nokia have advised that this may be available in future software releases for the phone, unfortunately we don’t know when this will be available.
Does the Nokia Lumia have turn-by-turn GPS navigation?
The Nokia Lumia 800 comes pre installed with the Nokia Drive software which gives full turn by turn navigation, however you need to be connected to WiFi to download the voice directions available.
How do you copy a phone number from a text that somebody has sent you sent and paste it into a contact?
To save a number from a message;
Open the text message,
Press and hold down on the number,
Select copy,
Close the message,
Select people,
Select add,
New contact,
Select name,
Enter name,
Select save,
Select phone,
Click on phone box and select the paste icon below the input box.
Select save.
Is it possible to store 2 mobile numbers for 1 contact?
No, you will need to set up a separate contact for each number. ( Work, mobile)
Are there any tricks to transferring contacts?
The easiest way to transfer your contacts from one your old phone to the Nokia Lumia 800 is to;
Activate Bluetooth on your old phone,
Select contact transfer from the app menu,
Switch on your Bluetooth,
Select your old phone from the list,
Select transfer contacts,
Select OK.
Do you get a memory card with it?
The Nokia Lumia 800 does not have a memory card slot however it does have an internal memory of 16GB
Does it work like USB mass storage?
Yes, if you connect your phone to a PC using the USB cable, then select my computer, you will be able to see the phone and access the memory from there.
How good are the notifications?
The notifications on the phone are quite loud and you can change the volume by using the volume keys. You can also set the phone to ring and vibrate or vibrate only by changing the volume of the phone.
Is it easy to type messages on it?
The Nokia Lumia 800 is relatively easy to use for messaging as you can use a small full QWERTY keyboard in normal view or by rotating the phone to landscape it will give you a larger full QWERTY keyboard to use. It also has speech recognition in the message reply window to allow you to say what you want to send as a message without having to type the message manually.
Is it fully compatible with already saved Sky Drive documents? (Word, Excel and One Note)
Yes, you will be able to access all of your documents already stored within the Sky Drive service.
Does Nokia Drive use your data allowance?
The Nokia Drive service does use your network data for downloading the maps whilst you are out and about and using the application however you will need to use WiFi to download the voice turn by turn service.
When the Nokia will update the offline version of the Nokia drive?
Unfortunately as this is a Nokia service we don’t hold any details about any future updates for their products and services.
Is Skype Video call available with the Nokia Lumia?
Unfortunately Skype is currently not available on the Nokia Lumia 800 however this is not a restriction on the phone but simply a compatibility issue with Skype itself.
How easy is it to access the social networking sites?
It is very easy to access social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter through the Me tile once you have set the account up in settings – email and accounts.
This will give you quick access to your latest updates, notifications and will allow you to send messages, check in and update your status. Alternatively for a full Facebook or Twitter experience you can also download the apps from the market place which you can then place on the home screen for quick access.
Is Facebook good on the handset?
The Facebook application is easy to use and allows you to do anything you need to on your mobile whilst the me tile also gives you instant access to all your notifications and use the chat function through Facebook.
Where is the search in the Facebook App?
When you are in the Facebook app you can search for friends by scrolling to the profile page, (scroll left to right on the screen) select friends, then click the search icon (magnifying glass).
What’s the battery life expectancy under heavy usage?
The battery has the following battery life:
Stand-by Time – Up to 265 hours
2G Talk Time – Up to 13 hours
3G Talk Time – Up to 9 hours 30 minutes
Music playing – Up to 55 hours
Is the Nokia Lumia 800 unlocked to any network?
Unfortunately I am unable to test this however if you find that your phone is locked to Vodafone UK and you would like it unlocked, simply complete the online Network Unlock Code request form where one of the team will be able to help you further.
