Is there any way to disable the Lumia from switching to MMS when sending a "long txt"?

83 MMS have appeared on my bill & it has been explained to me these are "long txt".

My N900 never occurred these MMS charges!

VF advisor was also unsure as to which length the conversion began - 3/5/7/10 SMS long?

I had a bit of a rant at a Vodafone person because she said there was no way to stop this.

What you can actually do is go into the settings and turn off "Group Text" which clumps longers texts into MMS.

After that they send as long texts.

Was about to say this i switched it off straight away as soon as i received the device although i do have the MMS bundle on my account at the moment

It also converts SMS to MMS when sending a text to several people at a time, something which I have never encountered before. The woman at Vodafone did remove (most of) the charges from my account after having to explain it to her an extraordinary amount of times, and her genius solution was "send all of your texts seperately in future". Clearly this is a fairly obvious solution to the problem, but absolutely ridiculous that I should have to do this when the facility to send them all in one go is there, and works perfectly fine on all other phones without incurring charges.

Once you disable the group messaging feature you can send multi SMS out with no problems, it will send them as SMS and not MMS after that.
