I'm not getting 4G signal on my iPhone 5 in a strong 4G signal area

After three different discussions with the online chat colleagues I still have not more than a strong 3G signal when I should have 4G.

I went through all the settings changes and updates and turn off/turn on's that I was advised and still only 3G.

I confirmed that I had a iPhone 5 and was told it was 4G capable and it will definitely work.....it hasn't.

Help!

Update - I just put my sim into another handset (Windows Lumia) and after a restart it picked up 4G signal as you would expect! Put it back in my iPhone....surprise surprise, not 4G.

I thought there was a change in iPhone 5 bands a d what Vodafone supported.

iPhone 5 customers should now get 4G on their phone in the below cities.  This is due to an update provided by Apple that’s supported on our network:

-          London

-          Liverpool

-          Bristol

-          Manchester

-          Glasgow

-          Birmingham

@UKDevine the iPhone 5 doesn't support the 4G bands used by Vodafone in the UK.

Vodafone use frequency bands 7 and 20 to provide 4G services while the iPhone 5 only supports 1 and 3. You would need to upgrade your iPhone in order to receive 4G services from Vodafone.

EE and Three provide a limited 4G service on band 3 so if you are lucky enough to be in an area where they have it your iPhone would work on those networks but in general, the advice would be that you're not able receive 4G in the UK on your iPhone 5.

Thanks - this is frustrating since I spoke to three diferent Vodafone 'Technical Assistants' and told them my post code and they never said anything!

Ah well, guess the wife gets this iPhone and I get an upgrade! :Smiling:
