Iphone 6 rip off?

why are the new iphones so much more expensive on vodafone compared with o2?

I wanted to upgrade both numbers i have with vodafone, but it works out around £400 more expensive than what o2 offer on their website.

53.00 per month with a free 16gb iphone 6 on O2 and you have to lease the handset on their refresh tariffs. £53.50 for the same phone on Vodafone so £12 dearer over two years and you own the handset.
