Just planning my upgrade and noticed something strange.
Usually the cost difference for bigger memory will be handled by a handset price increase.
For example:
iPhone 6 12M Contract 10GB 4G
16GB - £63.50pm +£149 - Total = £911
iPhone 6 12M Contract 10GB 4G
64GB - £63.50pm +£229 - Total = £991
Difference of £80 which is the same difference as sim free from Apple.
Its the same on the 6+ with a 24M contract:
iPhone 6+ 24M Contract 10GB 4G
16GB - £58.50pm +£19 - Total = £1423
iPhone 6+ 24M Contract 10GB 4G
64GB - £58.50pm +£99 - Total = £1503
Difference of £80
But with the iPhone 6 on a 24M contract the difference is managed via a line rental increase and a handset increase which increases the price a lot.
iPhone 6 24M Contract 10GB 4G
16GB - £53.50pm +£0 - Total = £1284
iPhone 6 24M Contract 10GB 4G
64GB - £58.50pm +£29 - Total = £1433
Difference of £149!
Its the same across the range on 64GB, a £5pm increase in line rental and a small increase in handset costs means overall being charged at least £120 for a spec increase which at the most should warrant an increase of £80.
Wierdly jumping from 64GB to 128GB incurrs the correct handset only cost increase.
Why the (arguably unfair) increase for 64GB on 2 year contracts I wonder?
