iPhone 4 and 4S

Has anyone else experienced their iphone 4S not sending SMS messages? I can send MMS, and iMessages but not SMS for some reason. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Do you have "Send as SMS" switched on?

Yeah mate, ive read a few things that say to turn off face time, then imessage, then turn them back on to see if it recognises it. Tried resetting network settings, complete resets from fresh, then starting from new, and also starting from backup. Every time i end up not being able to send SMS. iMessage and MMS are fine they work no bother and I can receive SMS too, I can make calls, and use mobile internet. It's driving me crazy haha

I'd go into a shop and either get them to plug your microsim into their computers, and double check the Message Centre Number assigned to the sim, or just do a sim change.

Out of interest, when your got your phone, did you come from another network and were your contacts copied for you in store from your old sim, using the stores computers. As if the answer is yes to those questions, whats probably happened is as your info has been copied by the computer, it will lift the other network centre number from their sim and apply it to the destination one.

It might not be this at all by the way, but in previous experience, able to receive but unable to send makes me think the message centre number is wrong.

(Message Centre number is the number your text is routed to at the network, before the network then deliver it for you to your intended recipient. In short, if your texts don't get to the message centre, they fail to send completely). Hope this helps.

Yeah I've just switched from O2 and had my numbers transferred in the store to the new sim. I bet that's what it is. I completely didn't think of that aha I'll go into store first chance i get and get that message centre number sorted. Thank you for your help

I've just got a new iphone 4s and the sms isn't working at all, can't send or receive. Everything else works fine though. I had a vodafone payg number and had you port that number to the microsim. I've tried all the suggestions in this thread and I've done a full reinstall but nothing has changed. Please help

Can you tell me exactly what happens? Does the message send but never arrive at the destination? Or do you get a read exclamation mark next to the message?

Can you tell me what your message centre number is?

To find this dial: *#5005*7672#

It should read +447785016005

If it doesn’t then type in **5005*7672*+447785016005#

my phone is having the same problem now. i bought the phone today and its been about 4 hours now since ive turned it on and started using it. i can call and receive calls and receive texts but my texts wont send!

i have tried resetting this and that, turning on and off they just wont go

everytime i try and send a text the bar is almost full then it stops and i get a red exclamation mark. i have experimented with a few diffferent phones but none will be sent to.

the phone came with a new microsim and and number that i put straight in the phone, and have had no contact transferral or anything like that, just a new phone!

pleassssee help its really starting to bug me!
