It's quite bizzare that there should be this problem on a £450 phone and to suggest that people buy the 'bumper' is a bit of an insult. If the bumper provides the solution to this issue then I think that they should be provided FREE and as standard with the phone.

I dont see what the issue is. I havent had this problem on my phone, no matter how i hold it. I also bought a bumper from the Apple Store, not to fix any issues, simply to protect my phone (the least I can do for a £450.00 phone). I also happen to think the bumper looks V cool and unobtrusive.
Anyway, rumours of a firmware release to fix the 'signal issue'. so those that dont want to pay £25 for something that protects the phone.....don't have too

To create custom ringtones using only iTunes:
1. Right click on the song you are going to make into a ringer and select “Get Info.”
2. Go to the options tab and go down to the “Start Time” and “Stop Time” check boxes. Check both
boxes and input the time you want your ringer to start/stop. The ringer has to be 40 seconds or less.
Click OK when you’re done.
3. Right click on your newly “clipped” song and select “Create AAC version.” The song will be
re-encoded using the start and stop times determined
4. After the song is encoded navigate to your iTunes Music folder, locate your song, and drag it
to your desktop (or some other temporary home). After the song is on your desktop go back to iTunes and delete the clipped version
from your iTunes library (It won’t delete it from your desktop, it will only remove it from iTunes).
5. Go back the song on your desktop and right click on your song and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r (you can just change the
extension by clicking on the name on your desktop, or by rightclicking the icon and selecting "rename".)
6. After the extension is changed simply double click on the file to add it to your iTunes library under
the ringtones section. Sync your phone with iTunes and you’re done!
Remember to go back into iTunes and uncheck your custom start and stop times for the original
version of your song.

You have to follow the instructions in my post above, to use iTunes to convert the mp3 file to AAC format, then rename it, changing the extension from .m4a to .m4r so that iTunes will recognise it as a ringtone rather than music.
If the written instructions are confusing, I believe there are some youtube videos that show it step by step.
Good luck.
(After creating myself several nice ringtones, I've switched the phone to silent

Symptoms
Immediately after updating to iOS 4, some users may notice that Exchange ActiveSync Mail, Contacts, or Calendars do not sync, or sync very slowly. In addition, some Exchange Server administrators may notice their servers running slowly.
Products Affected
iPod touch, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS
Resolution
To work around this issue, users should install a configuration profile from Apple that increases the amount of time the iOS 4 device will wait for the Exchange Server to respond to its sync requests. For best results, the profile should be installed on as many iOS 4 devices at your company as possible.
To install the profile:
1) Use Safari on your iOS 4 device to Download Configuration Profile On your iPhone or iPod touch, tap the download link there, but you may also email the attachment to another email account on your iOS 4 device, and tap the attachment to open it.
2) Tap Install to install the profile, and enter your passcode if prompted
3) A warning message will appear because the profile is not signed. Tap Install Now
4) Tap Done to complete the installation, then power off your device and power it back on
5) Wait for your Exchange data to finish syncing.
After installation, the profile will be listed under Settings > General > Profile.

You can make your own ringtones from mp3 files:
Not sure if this works with 3GS and iOS 4.0 any more.
I had a load before I upgraded to iOS 4.0 that disappeared from the handset after the upgrade. Yes, they are all in iTunes and are all valid ringtones, but they (mostly) won't sync accross.
Wish I'd waited to upgrade instead of doing it automatically.

I've only had this iPhone, so the method definitely works with iPhone 4/iOS4. Have you looked to make sure the ringtones are all checked on the ringtones tab when you sync? Sorry, but I don't have any other ideas why they're not syncing.

totally agree i got my phone yesterday and it also has this design fault plus i have seen the yellow blur a couple of times the least apple can do is give us the bumper for free. The yellow blur isn't so bad just now tho it's more the signal thats the issue for such an expensive phone.

When you simply click the home page button it no longer closes the app but backgrounds it instead (which uses battery).
To check what is running, double click the home button and it will display those apps at the bottom (same method which is used to get the orientation lock) then press and hold an app icon so that it starts to shake and a little minus symbol shows at the top..press this minus symbol to close the app...
