Hi
As you iPhone users know, the sim card is reached by pushing, for example, a paperclip into that little hole which ejects the sim card.
Got my iPhone 4 today. When I got it home I spent half an hour searching the house for a paperclip and couldn't find one. In the end, and out of desperation, I went to the local store and brought a small pack of paper clips and used one to eject the sim card holder allowing me to insert my sim card.
Imagine how stupid I felt when, after activating my handset and clearing the packaging away, I realised that Apple provided a little sim card tool in the box.

Well, Ill be honest, It did take me a while with my 3G to find it but thinking back now its obvious that there would be something in the pack as they wouldnt spend all that money on packaging then expect you to go out and by a paperclip.... lol

Hey Myrm,
I always used to keep a paperclip handy for my 2G / 3GS... though the Micro SIM kinda renders the ability for hot SIM swapping redundant. Micro SIMs are the future though - I can't imagine it will be long before other manufacturers start using them.
Let us know if we can help in any way!

You can buy a microsim adaptor, the microsim just pops in it and allows you to use it in a 'rehular' phone
P.S. I bought an iPhone 4 from the Apple store yesterday and ported from O2, is it correct it'll take until Monday to get service? Cheers

Hi Gamst,
If you are porting across to us from another network, it can take up to 48 hours to complete, so taking into account the weekend, Monday does seem likely
I trust this answers your query.

I wonder why microsims were used with the iPhone 4. It just seems that the surrounding plastic has been trimmed down in size. Or is the magic really within the sim itself?

There is no magic, a micro sim is just a bit smaller. the metal contacts gubbins are identical to a mini sim. This is why there are sim adapters to make it the same size to go in older or normal phones.
If you search there are intrsuctions on how to trim a sim down to a micro size. O2 micro sims are supplied pre cut in both shapes/sizes so you can stick it into old phone to copy contacts onto it then pop the micro bit out to go in iphone4.
