iPhone 4 and 4S

Hi all,

been scouring this forum and the net in general to find conclusive way to get MMS to work on my 4s.

Been through the process of speaking to customer services twice without success - they said I was correctly set up at their end even before they sent me setting changes texts. I've tried the various setting changes I've seen floating about on othre forums and threads on here and as of yesterday, been into a vodafone store to have them take a look at it.

They said as I'd ported my number from O2, I had a bar on sending picture messages? I wasn't convinced by his explanation but told me it would take 24 hours to rectify itself.

Needless to say, it still isn't working.

Can you please help?

I have exactly the same problem after porting in from O2. I've not contacted customer services, but do you have an update on whether it started working after they removed the "bar"?

Sorry mate, I should have said Orange, my missus is the one on O2 on an iphone 4 and no issues. Moral is don't post on forums when tired.

Nothing changed since the supposed bar lifted anyhow. I'll give customer services another bell and if that doesn't work I'll be back in the shop with it.

Hi Guys

I am sorry to see that your MMS services are not working.

I'm not sure what settings can be sent to the phone as all of the settings are downloaded through iTunes when you get the carrier settings.

I would like to double check that you are both provisioned for MMS so have sent you an email. If you can reply back to that I can then check.

Did either of you manage to get this resolved? My wife and I have contract phones from VF One Net, and she's been unable to send or receive MMS for the past god knows how many months on her iPhone4.

VF have checked all the settings on our accounts, and her sim will send and receive in another phone, but not in the iPhone, the shop have now sent it back for repair for a second time, which is a bit frustrating, as we've had to buy another phone for her to use whilst it's away as we didnt' get offered a courtesy phone... if it's a setting that's iPhone specific, if one of you gets it resolved it may give us a clue where to look?

i've had the same problem ever since i had the phone last Nov. tried Vodafond 'chat' online today and still no joy. Just don't know where to go next.!

Same here, I've scoured the forums and everything on my phone is set to send and receive MMS messages...but it fails everytime!

1. What error message do you get when you try to send a MMS message?

2. What happens when you receive a message?

3. What are the settings in your phone for this?

4. Are you able to access the internet?

5. Has this ever worked?

1. What error message do you get when you try to send a MMS message? Attempts to send, gets 3/4 of the way and times out.Get the red circle with white exclamation mark in it.

2. What happens when you receive a message? Never been sent one. Will get a mate with an android phone to send me a test one.

3. What are the settings in your phone for this? 

APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
username: wap
password: wap
MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms/
MMS proxy: 212.183.137.012

MMS on, imessage on. Data Roaming on

4. Are you able to access the internet? Yes

5. Has this ever worked? Unaware as only sent via imessage since had phone and before this error cropped up.

Latest development is I've been on to tier 3 support who have sent me out a new SIM, which I'm just about to test. The next stop is the phone itself.

I've just compared your MMS APN settings to mine and there is a slight difference.

Can you amend the MMS Proxy to the following:

212.183.137.012:8799

Clicking "reset settings" at the bottom of the screen should do this automatically, but if not you can do this manually just by clicking on the line.

Cheers Dave, seem to recall that was the setting before I changed them initially. Tried adding but made no difference. Spoke to customer service again as sim change made no difference. Got to try sim in unlocked phone to rule out the sim totally. If that fails, it's a new handset or repair.

I want be sending for repair I can promise you that! Had a mare with Vodafone years ago and promised never to go back. Such was the deal, I thought I'd give them another go. Starting to regret it now

Can I ask how you got on trying your SIM in another phone?

Did the SIM work in the other phone OK?

Please can you give me an update on your issue so we can move forward to a resolution.

Any more info on this issue? I have reset settings a few times, restored iPhone to new - replaced sim. I can send but not receive mms. Not sure how Long for as I obviously don't know when somewhen sends me a message! I have got a few people to send test mms messages but I do not get them.

I managed to get this working after customer service and the shops being absolutely useless. Basically, all I did was take the sim out, popped it into my missus's O2 iPhone 4 took it out again, placed back in mine and switched on - bingo it started working. After all that messing, that's what solve it... I have no idea why that resolved the issue but to be honest I couldn't have cared I was that cheesed off with the situation. It was so close to being farmed back to Vodafone I can tell you. Hope that helps anyone with the same predicament.
