iPhone 4 and 4S

I've orderd an iPhone 4s from Apple, which I should get next week.

Can I get a microsim beforehand and activate it myself when I get the phone, or should I wait until I've got the iPhone and go to a vodafone store and do it?

You're more than welcome to get a microSIM before hand if you wish. These can be picked up in store free of charge or one can be posted out to you.

When you're ready to switch your number to the microSIM, you can register the SIM swap online here - iPhone Micro SIM activation.

Thanks, what's the best way to order it, the online ordering a free sim page makes you choose all sorts of plans that I don't need? I'd like to save myself a visit to a shop if possible.

When you order a free sim online it is automaticly sent with a Pay as you go account set up. You don't need this as you are transfering your existing number so it doesn't matter which option you choose. All you need to do is fill in the form and they will send one out to you. It's delivered really quickl;y as well so you shouldn't be waiting long. When you have the SIM head over to the Getting started with your iPhone page and follow the instructinos to transfer your number.
