As this was given to her as a gift, then she does not have a receipt, is there any other way we can verify this?

I appreciate the position you're in, but as AnnS and George have both mentioned, the proof of purchase is required before we can request an NUC.

You'd need to arrange for the person who originaly purchased the handset to contact us with this for us to be able to proceed.

I've seen on here that people have been getting there iphone4's unlocked etc and was wondering if I could get emailed and get it unlocked as customer service are a bit rubbish!

I have sent an unlock form for my contract iphone 4 and despite 3 attempts at trying to get a reply via email on the outcome I have received over the last 10 days: nothing from Vodafone.

My network unlock application number is 5958371. George, could you please sort this out for me? Thanks for your help.

What problem are you experiencing with unlocking your iPhone?

If you have requested your Unlock code already have you tried hooking your phone up to iTunes with a non Vodafone SIM card and performing a sync? This is how the unlock is intiated so its always worth double checking that the unlock hasn't already been actioned.

If you haven't requested an unlock then heres all the information you'll need on how to do that.

Sorry Wayne but the NUC page does not give you any help with requesting the unlock for an iPhone. There is no option to select an iPhone as it is not listed and neither can you enter your phone make / model  manually.

I bought a 3gs from ebay, brand new and sealed, what i know it is from a contract upgrade, i just want to know if vodafone will allow me to unlcok the handset if i will buy a pay-as-go sim card and pay 19 pounds. What do you think?

who then put the request in for me

but when i connect to itunes with an non vodaphone simcard i get the following

A mod needs to clarify this for you.

Prior to recent changes VF would only unlock a phone that is in contract with them and active on their network so that the IMIE number appears on the VF system, also the customer to who the phone was supplied had to make the request.

This policy may have changed in the recent policy changes but it has no been made clear.

Your phone is still locked. You could try plugging it in with a VF sim card as it is not always necessary to swop cards to receive the unlock message.

On one of my earlier 3GS phones locked to TMobile the unlock message was received whilst there was still a Tmobile sim in it.

Credit where credit is due  to the guys and one gal - thanks to George, Martin and Sukhi who all helped me to get my unlock. It's a shame that sending the unlock form needs chasing up by the Mods but it's now done and I'm very grateful.

Hello,

I have an iphone 4 that was bought from Apple store in Paris, sim free.

It was given to me as a present and for some strange reason the first sim that i placed into the phone has meant it is locked to that network (vodafone).  I want to use the phone abroad and need it unlocked. The iphone is not in any contract with vodafone and therefore I have no commitment.

No i wasnt given a refrence number.

Sry for that, didnt think at the time to ask for 1 as i thought the unlock would go through
