Iphone 4s does not reconnect to vodafone data when wifi switched off. The only way to fix this is to reset network settings. Never had this issue with O2.

Same problem here. Intermittent though. Turning phone off and on again usually works. B****y annoying. Hope someone has a solution to this.

I think I managed to fix it. When I go to carrier and change it from Automatic to a manually selected provider from the list i.e. vodafone it seems stable. What does the Automatically option do though?

I'd just double check that your APN's read correctly on your network settings. You can find more information about how to set them up here -  What are the Vodafone mobile internet settings?

If you go to Settings > General > Network > Mobile Data Network your APN should show as:

APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk

Username: wap

Password: wap

Or

APN: Internet

Username: web

Password: web

Mine also does this, but so did my previous HTC desire!

Quickest way to reset it, switch airplane o#mode on for 10 seconds, then back off again.

I have absolutely no clue why it does it, it doesn't always do it either!!!

My APN settings are fine. I have changed them from the 'wap' to 'Internet' settings to see if it makes a difference. Too soon to tell as the problem only occurs every few days or so for me.

I have a new problem. Without touching the network my usage has jumped about 30mb overnight according to my account on the Vodafone website. It has been connected to my wifi and not moved. Besides that the cellular data usage counter on my iPhone has shown no change. What gives Vodafone? My inclusive data is been used but not by me.

I had a similar issue with the usage on my iphone4, at the start of my contract, it seemed to calm down a bit once i started closing apps that were not actively being used. every time you open an app on the phone and then press the home button it stays open in the backround. for some reason mine were eating up my usage, try closing them every time you are not actively using them and see if it makes a difference, of course being attached to your wifi should make sure that your inclusive data is not used however if you open the app while you are not connected to the wifi (obviously using your sim cards data connection) depending on the app it is possible to hold that connection and not seamlessly transfer over to the wifi.

I am not sure if this is going to make a difference, but it might aim you in the right direction to saving your data bundle. Closing the apps every now and then is a small price to pay for using your data bundle for what you want to use it for instead of just being eaten overnight by an annoying app!

Hi guys,

If this is happening, you may just need to refresh the connection, so I'd recommend switching Airplane Mode off and back on again to force the handset to reconnect.

Let us know if that makes a difference.

Mine did it again this monring, airplane mode fixed it.

However this is not iphone specific problem had identical issue with my previous htc, but i tolerated that as I had put custom firmware on, so assumed it was that.

That could easily be that the usage is updated as part of some sort of nightly batch job so it's updating with prior usage as well. Have you seen it update more frequently before?
