Iphone Insurance Claim

Over the weekend I lost my iPhone 4. I have the Vodafone Insurance Band 4 but when I rang up to claim on it I was told that my claim was rejected.

This is due to me previously losing my iPhone 4s and not having any insurance and not wanting this to happen again I purchased a iPhone4 from a friend and went into a vodafone store and took out insurance on this handset.

I have now been told that as the iPhone4 was not purchased through vodafone direct, that I could never get insurance on the phone. This was obviously a shock to me as I was led to believe that I was paying for insurance that I have now found out I could never claim on. This I believe to be very poor customer service on the behalf of vodafone and if I had been told this when I went to take the insurance out I would have obviously not taken the Vodafone insurance out and seeked insurance elsewhere.

What would be the best way to try and deal with this issue?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Iphone Insurance Claim

Don't you just love Insurance companies! Vodafone Insurance is handled by a third party and there have been instances reported in these forums where a Vodafone customer has purchased an iPhone privately and after taking it into a Vodafone store to be checked has been sold insurance, so it would appear to be a standard practice. If you have the Insurance policy that was given to you by Vodfone and you have not infringed any of the terms of that policy and you either paid an upfront premium or are making monthly paymenta I personally would have thought that you have a valid claim. A mod will pick your post up and take a look at it for you but the mods are a busy team so a bit of patience may be needed for a response.

Re: Iphone Insurance Claim

I have been paying for the 'insurance' since November and if my memory is correct also paid an upfront premium for this 'service'.

Thanks for the reply kids I will wait for a mod to responed.

Re: Iphone Insurance Claim

Hi tom2310

Thank you for your posts and a very warm welcome to the eForum.:smileyhappy:

When a device has been purchased elsewhere the device is to be taken into a store to be checked over before insurance can be added.

So I can investigate this further for you I have sent a PM to your inbox to follow, once we have your response either myself or one of the team will be in touch as soon as we can.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Many Thanks

Re: Iphone Insurance Claim

Received my first phone call on Thursday 12th and the Lady I spoke to said that she would have to speak to a colleague and then call me back the following day (Friday 13th) as she was finishing work within half hour. This was ok however I was never contacted. It is becoming incredibly frustrating now as it seems nobody seems to want to help and is instead just passing my issue around..

While I was chasing this up this today I was told to yet again visit the store which sold me the insurance. Again I am still waiting for a call from them as well after being promised they would be in touch by the end of the week after my first visit 02.07.12.

Could a mod please inform me the best way forward to try and deal with this ASAP?
