Signal?

Hello I wanted to ask those who now own the new 4s, if the signal issues, have been resolved, not the antenna gate issues but the phones ability to capture signal, because the last time, on the 4, the signal was really bad, in comparison to my Samsung galaxy s2. I remember having both phones on the table, both with vodafone sim cards, but the iPhone 4 would struggle, and for me it was a deal breaker, cause i stay in the hospital were the signal is very bad, yet I rely enormously on the phone. I have read some reviews saying the signal is better on 4s but I need your user experience please.

Re: Signal?

Phone signal is okay for an iPhone but I don't think it A1.  Vodafone 3G coverage for data is poor and the map on their site is not reflective of comments on the boards...

[ Edited ]

Hi marvi0

The iPhone 4S has improved call quality as it now can switch between two antennas to transmit and receive calls. The increased antenna also allows for faster data speeds for data speeds up to 14.4Mbps as opposed to 7.2Mbps on the iPhone 4 so you should see quicker connections and faster uploads/downloads.

If any iPhone 4S users can comment further on their experiences with the new phone that would be fantastic :smileyhappy: We'd love to see how you're getting on with them and if you've noticed a difference in call and data quality from your previous iPhone's.

Thanks

Simon

Re: Signal?

Acquiring 3G signal on the Iphone 4s with vodafone has been an issue to me. When using Iphone 3G with 02 in the same area i used to get a signal.

Re: Signal?

i have the 4S and can safely say that the signal quality for 3G is absolute rubbish!! heres a little table/guide/thing..!

Home

iPhone 4 - 3/5 Bars 3G

Wifes GS2 5/5 Bars H+

HTC ChaCha 4/4 Bars H+

iPhone 4S - No 3G, No Edge... just a little hollow circle

Work

iPhone 4 - 1/5 Bars 3G

Wifes GS2 3/5 Bars H+

HTC ChaCha 2/4 Bars H+

iPhone 4S - No 3G, 2/5 Bars Edge.

All phones are using Vodafone.

Not Impressed at all. :-(

Re: Signal?

Thanks very much for your detailed reply, and effort, so the iPhone, is still struggling to capture signal, exactly the very same problem I had with my iphone 4,it would cut off when in my flat, yet my Samsung galaxy s2, would not cut off, so sadly another disappointment, i shall not bother, cause as much as the iPhone can via wifi, reach speeds of 14mbs, this is not helpful for me cause am always out at work, with no access to wifi, it's the data I use, and the iPhone, seems to struggle in particular in areas of poor coverage.

Re: Signal?

The 3G sinal I get on my new 4s is not as good as the 3G signal I got on my previous phone the BB 9700 sat in exactly the same place, so surely this must be the phone?

Re: Signal?

Thanks jaayne, that's the information and comparison I needed, cause most people just think the signal issue was just about antenna gate, but know, its deeper into the chassis, in comparison to other phones, on the same network, the iPhone struggles, to maintain or capture decent data coverage. It's ok in areas of good data coverage and wifi, but move out of those areas, you will see how annoyingly frustrating it is period. Anyone else feels, or investigated the same?.

Re: Signal?

Thanks Leec, it's very annoying, and most people just brush this aside. In android, you can change radios, modems and staff, and i can guarantee you, there won't be a fix on the iPhone, will actually go, to the main official iPhone forum, to hear what they think but not holding my breath.

Re: Signal?

I'm having the same problem with 3g in my house. It just keeps going from 3G to a little o symbol constantly. I have to keep going into airplane Mode for it to start getting a signal again, and even then it only lasts for about 5mins. I've had numerous phones before from Vodafone at this address and never had this problem with a 3G signal before. My wife has a phone with Vodafone as well and that seems to be able to keep a 3G signal in the house. Hopefully it is a software issue as it's bloomin annoying.

Re: Signal?

Mine has been crap too, 3G constanty dropping out, I have to toggle airplane mode to get it back.  Possibly a faulty handset, but so far VERY unimpressed!

Re: Signal?

had to have my iphone replaced my Apple because of a dead pixel and the poor-below average 3G coverage is exactly the same.

Im so dissapointed as my iPhone 4 had great 3G coverage, this 4S is just pants!!
