iPhone 4 and 4S

Good morning.

I spoke to Vodafone yesterday on the phone and asked if I would be charged extra for using my iPhone 4 Internet data on my iPad via tethering (personal hotspot feature on iPhone). I was told that I wouldn't and it would just use up the data I already pay monthly for but just at a faster rate.
The guy said he can add tethering to my account for free so I said yes to that, so he did.

Now, after reading some posts on these forums, I'm a bit worried that I'm going to have an extra £5 on my bill. Is that correct?

As I said, the guy on the phone said it wouldn't cost me any more money, it would just use my data a bit faster.

Can anyone clarify this for me please?

PS my data plan: 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data.

If your on the new plan from 1st June 2011 then you would not be charged extra unless you go over your data allowance. £5 for 500mb,

Hmm... Not sure what plan I'm on. I'm guessing it's probably not a new one because I set my contract up back in April.

Do you have the My Vodafone app on your iPhone? As that tells you what plan you are on and what's included.

Mine is. 600 mins, unltd texts, 1024mb data, BT Openzone.

I have not switched to the new plan as it would reduce my data allowance to 500mb and I looks like Vodafone have put you on the new tariff.

Yes I do have the Vodafone app. I'm on 600 mins, unlimited texts, 500mb data and 1GB BT Openzone wifi.

If you setup your account in April you will not be on one of the new plans that include tethering.

However it is possible for the CS agent to apply the tethering bundle free of charge. Might be worth a quick call to them and get someone to check it out, it'll only take a min :-)

If you are on one of the new plans, the tethering would come out of your data.

With signing up in April, the tethering would be charged.

So that we can check what has been applied to your account for tethering, I need your details, I have therefore just sent you an email. If you can reply back to that with the relevant information we can check this out
