iPhone 4 and 4S

Hello everyone 

I just wonder whether someone could urgently help me

I have iphone 4 with vodafone pay-monthly plan. Because I now work overseas, I cannot use a local SIM card and have to switch off my hanset from local networks  since 6 September 2011.  But I paid about 63 pounds per month (including the insurance).

At my requst to Vodafone for unlocking my handset on Oct 5th, Vodafone replied on Oct 7th, advising that I should receive NUC code wihthin 5 working days from Apple, quoting my reference no. 307820

To this writing, I have not received the NUC code. 

Here it is my handset information : Model: MC605B ; EMEI : (removed for security)

Can anyone help urgently? I have not heard from anyone on my phone for ages. It is so unfair and my own hanset is locked?

There is no unlock code for the iPhone. Any number you receive from Vodfaone (VF) is the reference number for your request.

VF ask Apple to unlock the phone, when Apple have changed the details on their system the next time ou plug your phone into iTunes you will see an onscreen message in iTunes that it is now unlocked. You then have to complete the unlock by inserting a non- VF sim card into the phone.

There may be a problem if your are abroad as the iTunes servers you connect to have to be in the same region of the world as where your iTunes account is registered.

Vodafone customer services replied on Oct 5th, 2011 and said NUC code was to be sent to me within 5 working days. I have not received the code yet after 5 working days.

Any solid advice on how to unlock my iphone 4?

I Desperately need Vodafone’s help. Vodafone advised me to have requested Apple to issue NUC code on 05/10/2011 but Apple has today confirmed on phone  not to have received Vodaone's  request. As I now work overseas, I have not used my iphone4 since September 5  but paid  63 pounds per month.

Have you actually tried connecting the phone to iTunes to see if the phone has now been unlocked?

The entire process is done through iTunes, you can wait until Kingdom Come but you will not get an unlock code as there isn't one.

If you are abroad the unlock, if it has been processed, may be probelmatical as the unlock is carried out when you connect to the iTunes server in the region for the country that your Apple ID is registered to. (UK?)

Thanks for your reply.

I phoned Apple on Friday, which confirmed not to have received Vodafone's request and will only unlock my phone at Vodafone's request. For me it does not matter whether NUC exists or not as far as my handset will be unlocked. In fact, Vodafone said there is NUC code related this unlocking in its email.

 Itunes  has not indicates my handset has been unlocked. I was registered to UK. But  I believe It is allowed to change the user's contry in Apple or Itunes users account.

Hi shaomeeng,

I have taken a look at this for you and can confirm that your iPhone has been unlocked.

You now need to connect your iPhone to iTunes with a non Vodafone UK SIM in it and this will then prompt you to complete the unlock procedure.
