Vodafone SMTP server

Hi

I have an Iphone 4 s and everything was working fine until just before Xmas 2011.  I have a Onetel web based email.

I can receive emails on my Iphone fine but cannot now send emails from the phone.

I have been given a bit of a run around by both Vodafone and Onetel technical support.  I now understand that I need a vodafone SMTP server address and that I used to have one through Vodafone 360 which is now defunct.

Can anyone help me by letting me know Ihow I can receive emails on my phone or what the SMTP setting should be.  I have tried all the ones listed for both Onetel and Vodafone on the web etc.

Many thanks

Best wishes

Jon

Re: Vodafone SMTP server

Hi Shin

I have tried various ones and can't remember them all but some of them were:

send.vodafone.net

smtp.vodafone.net

Best wishes

Re: Vodafone SMTP server

Hi Jon and welcome to the eForum

Thanks for your post here. It is true that the 360 service has now been closed and at present, we do not offer an alternative.

You will need to use any open outgoing mail server as your own SMTP server. Google and Yahoo are two good examples of open SMTP servers. All you need to do is to sign up for one of their accounts and use the SMTP server on your phone as your outgoing mail server.

Thanks

Re: Vodafone SMTP server

Gmail is not a good option, unfortunately, as it is not invisible.

Another poster on a similar thread has recommended O2's mailserver.

Re: Vodafone SMTP server

Hi Neil

I've just signed up to AuthSMTP for £18 annual fee which seems to have sorted the problem.

However, I'm amazed that Vodafone doesn't have a built in solution to this problem!!

Best wishes
