iPhone 4 and 4S

Hi 

I upgraded my phone to an iphone 4 on Friday, but the store wouldn't offer me the same deal as which was available to me on the upgrade section on the website, so I had to do this online in store. But because I had done this, it meant that the phone would have to be sent out, so I chose to have it sent to store as they would be able to sort my micro sim etc.

I have received and email today that the white iPhone is out of stock and it may take up to 2-4 weeks for it be delivered. 

So does this mean that I could possibly be waiting 4 weeks for a phone which I have to pay a higher contract monthly payment for a phone which I will not have. Also I have taken out insurance which has 14 days free, which will be ineffective.

Also since my plan has changed, my Blackberry services has stopped working,

My story is exactly the same. Upgraded Friday, recieved an email to say upgrade successful and that i was now paying my new priceplan (which is more expensive than my previous priceplan).

i have now received an email saying its out of stock and to expect a 2-4 week wait!!!

i think this is totally unacceptable- especially when you are paying a higher priceplan for a phone i havent even got! Plus my blackberry messenger has been deactivated so i have lost that service also.

if i knew this phone was out of stock online and i would be waiting this long and paying more for the privelidge then i wouldnt have upgraded online i would have gone into a shop!!!!! i feel i have been conned

Same here Mearle. They should really call if the delay is going to be this long. I'd take a black one instead if there was the option to get it this week.

I've raised a complaint as this whole online upgrade process has been woeful. I'll advise here in the off chance that there is some better resolution than 2-4 weeks.

Yeah its a damn right disgrace, I did go into store to get the upgrade, but the advisor claimed he could not match the offer which was available to me on the upgrade section on the net, so I had to do it online inside the shop, so I don't see why I still just couldn't take a handset from the store. 

......But then it should have not let me upgrade online if there was no handsets in stock, of atleast advised me of these stock issues. 

I have phoned vodafone and after being transferred from department to department, I have been giving a months free BB service. but I could still be paying an extra £11 this month for a phone I do not have.

I think that we should be able to pick up a handset from a vodafone store.

Brilliant news that you have all upgraded I understand that it is frustrating that we have to wait for stock of the handset. I have to admit when I order a new gadget I want it straight away, so I know how frustrating this is.

We are dependant on the manufacturer when it comes to stock, but I am sure as soon as we receive more stock, we will get them sent out.

@emmanelthorpe - So that we can get you BIS back onto your account, I have just sent you an email, if you can reply back to that with your details, we can then sort that out for you.

Totally understand Martin that you have to depend on the manufacturer, but if you purchase any other sort of gadget from an online retail store, that online retail store will tell you the stock situation before you purchase the gadget and 99.9% of the time they will not allow you to hand over your money if the item is out of stock.So we have paid for an item expecting to receive that item withing 1-2 working days.But now found that we have paid for an item that we potentially may not get for 4 weeks.

Very frustrating and unacceptable.

and also.............why is it still showing online as being 'in stock' when it obviously isnt............

I decided to talk to an online sales advisor on the website. I told the advisor that i was interested in purchasing the 16gb white iPhone, but was wondering if it was instock, the reply which I got was, ' we do have the white iphone instock with us online,' and 'yes it will be delivered to you within 2-3 working days.' 

So this is either a mistake by this advisor, or Vodafone give substantial preferential treatment to new customers and hold handsets for them, rather than giving handsets to thier upgrading customers. 

is there anything of this?

i put an order in yesterday for a upgrade to a 16gb Iphone 4, later that night i got a text saying it was out of stock and i would have to wait up to 4 weeks before i can get it, has any one else had this problem and how long did you have to wait till you got your iphone?
