iPhone 4 - When is the next stock due

Hi All...

Having placed an order for an iPhone 4 yesterday morning at 9am, all confirmed by 9:30am and having not received a dispatch notice I'm presuming that all the stock has been allocated out to other customers...

So my question goes out to the VF customer service team...

Q1. How many iPhone 4's did VF have to allocate yesterday.
Q2. By what time did they all get allocated.
Q3. When will VF be getting more stock and how many.
Q4. Why has my price plan changed and my credit card charged when you can't for fill the contract.

Many thanks

Q1. How many iPhone 4's did VF have to allocate yesterday. - Confidential company info.

Q2. By what time did they all get allocated. - Confidential company info.

Q3. When will VF be getting more stock and how many. - Whenever & whatever Apple decide to deliver.

Q4. Why has my price plan changed and my credit card charged when you can't for fill the contract. - Website ordering system was a complete failure.

im in the same posistion ordered around 9;30am my order has been confirmed and processed. I was expecting a few weeks wait due to ordering late, so why take money out of my bank account for something i might not get for weeks.

Martin - I doubt you will get any answers to Q1-Q3, but in relation to Q4 the answer is - because you let them.

When you went through the process of ordering your iphone4, you were told that your price plan would change and that money would be taken from your payment card - you then clicked proceed to say that you were happy for this to happen. It sucks but there you have it.

On the plus side, VF can only do this if they complete the order within 28 days.

As for when stock will be available. 2 dates seem to be doing the rounds - 2 July and 14 July. Both of these are within the 28 days and should therefore be met by VF.

iPhone 4 - When is the next stock due

2nd and 14th of July were the dates that appeared on the Apple site when they ran out of stock. They are now saying 3 weeks - which is for new orders. People who have already ordered should get there's on the 2nd or 14th depending on when they ordered.

Those factories in China must be pumping these things out at a rate of knots just to fullfil the countries that it has launched in. Plus Apple will be launching pretty much worldwide soon.

Someone mentioned in another thread that VF wil be getting 20,000 (or did they say 200k) in their next delivery.

Personally I doubt that they will get anywhere near the 20K & there is no way anyone in CS or on this forum will know otherwise.

iPhone 4 - When is the next stock due

i'm in the same boat (ordered about 9am y'day too)

so.......having obtained my PAC code from tmobile where do i satnd if my new iphone isn;t sorted before my PAC expires?? new PAC from previous provider and then have to navigate the perils of supplying a new PAC without cocking up my original order??

Hopefully won;t come to that if 2nd and 14th dates being bandied about are true but any ideas?

iPhone 4 - When is the next stock due

I actually think it's pretty unfair to keep bashing Vodafone about iPhone stock, this isn't really VFs fault, it's Apples fault. Whenever they launch a new phone there is never enough stock, this is standard Apple process and we really should look at it for what it is - a marketing ploy.

Think about it, all those queues, frustrated punters (like you and me) with no iPhones, being turned away from 2 mile long queues at the Apple store (yes, they really did that, I know because it happened to me) all makes for amazing marketing, the iPhone 4 must be the most amazing thing ever in the World ever if it is in such high demand.

Apple knew what demand would be like and they simply did not supply enough stock to carriers or stores. They should have either issued a later launch date or ensured that they could supply enough stock but they didn't. Apple are also a nightmare to deal with professionally, they barely give you enough information and when they do it's always too late so partners like VF and other carriers end up with frustrated customers.

Cast your mind back two years to the 3G launch, I was there and it was carnage, what about the original iPhone launch? Carnage. Apple know how this works, they know they don't have enough stock and I I'm pretty confident that this is no mistake and that there are probably warehouse "holding sites" dotted all over the place stuffed full of iPhone 4s.

Personally, I have been an O2 and a T-Mobile customer quite recently and comparatively Vodafone are pretty good when it comes to customer service. We're all angry and annoyed and want our new toys but shouting at VF is pretty pointless when Apple won't give them the information to pass on to us. Think about all those poor T-Mobile customers that were promised they could get an nice new iPhone 4 and instead got an email yesterday telling them that it's "coming soon"...

So, take a deep breath, sit back and wait. Yes, it looks like might take two weeks and I know that's annoying because I'm in the same boat as you, but that's how it is. Remember, it's just a phone, a 2 week wait is not going to make your life unbearable, nobody is going to get hurt and the World is not going to end, trust me. However, if you really must vent your frustration, try directing it at Apple, they engineered this situation, not Vodafone.

iPhone 4 - When is the next stock due

Hi all

I'll answer Martin101068 questions for you:

Q1. How many iPhone 4's did VF have to allocate yesterday.

I do not have the exact amount of devices we were allocated for sale yesterday, but I can say we sold our full allocation.

Q2. By what time did they all get allocated.

The allocation of the devices is automated, and it goes to a pre order system when the stock devices have been used, so again, I cannot give a specific time when the allocation was depleted.

Q3. When will VF be getting more stock and how many.

There's no confirmed date of our next delivery as yet.

Q4. Why has my price plan changed and my credit card charged when you can't for fill the contract.

The fact you have not received a confirmation email, does not necessarily mean you will not receive your iPhone today. The delivery cut off time is 6.00pm, so it could be delivered anytime up to this, so we haven't necessarily not fulfilled the transaction. However, the fee for the device is taken as standard for any realtime or pre order.

If you haven't received your iPhone by 6.00pm today, let me know and I will look into this further for you.

Regards

Can you maybe tell us why the automated stock allocation failed so badly and pretty much screwed the people who fairly got in first and are now sat twiddling their thumbs with a hole in their pocket? How did it decide who got one and who didnt and why if it went wrong didnt it get handled manually to sort it out and do it fairly? Surely you shouldnt have taken peoples money if you couldnt confirm you had a phone for them, non of us paid for a preorder and you didnt advertise it as a preorder.

iPhone 4 - When is the next stock due

I just called VF and got told that my phone had not been allocated out of the current batch but that they had another batch coming in so I could potentially get it Monday or Tuesday, otherwise I will have to wait 7-10 working days.

Order Number VC0016797481

Whilst I am reluctant to point the finger of blame at VF (as per my previous post) it would be nice to know exactly where I am in the queue for these units.

Thanks

I called a few hours ago and I was told there is a batch coming in today. Not sure of it's validity.

iPhone 4 - When is the next stock due

I rang earlier and they said no stock available and no more came today. Why cant there be correct info given out, not having the horrible CS staff lying to get you off the phone :(

Well I have put my details on that post by trev to find out, hopefully its good news.

I queued up at tesco yesterday with my wife and she got one!!! coz we have a joint bank account, it is classed as 1 account, 1 customer, 1 iPhone AAARRRGGGHHHH

So I really want mine and chose Vodafone because of the 5mb of abroad data a day which was the turning point to come to VF. Plus there is decent 3G signal at Alton Towers unlike my current o2!!

Not sure where to post this as if i post in this thread it'll probably be deleted.

But if you look in that thread i just posted, does anyone else notice something about Order numbers?

Some are like this:

(Example!) - o345833218 (made it up btw)

while others are like this - VC0016457293 (also made up)

Why is this?

The lady I spoke to said there is another batch coming in tomorrow and that although I don't have a phone allocated now there is a possibility I could get one allocated from this new batch and if so I'd get my phone on Monday or Tuesday, otherwise I'll have to wait 7-10 days.

Lets hope there is some truth in what she said. They've all been pretty rubbish at giving out accurate information so far, so for me it's 'I'll believe it when i see it' kinda thing.
