iPhone 4 abroad - no service and network restricted

Hi

I hope someone can help.

I'm abroad at the moment with my iPhone 4. The phone is without service and, when I try to select the network, I receive a message saying that the network is restricted.

Last year I had the same problem and I was told it was because I had international roaming barred. This time I specifically called 191 to ask them to lift all the bars on my account so I could receive and make calls abroad.

It's all very frustrating because my friend is having no problems with his iPhone 3G from O2, so it's either a problem with my iPhone 4 or with Vodafone. Does any one know if I have to change any settings on my phone for this to work?

Thanks

Wlad

Won't be handset related...more likely account. ( what country u in? Shouldnt make a differnce, but you never know)

One of the Voda team will probably need to have a look at your account...they do work 1st come 1st served so patience (and enjoy your holiday/work trip)

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I imagined it would not be a handset problem because my friend can use his older handset with O2 without problems.

I hope someone from Vodafone will have a look at this.

I'm in Brazil, in case this make any difference.

thanks again

Re: iPhone 4 abroad - no service and network restricted

Hi wwgarcia,

There is a handset setting for data roaming under Settings > General > Network, so you may want to check that is enabled if you're trying to use iMessage or internet-based services.

Which Brazilian network are you trying to connect to? Do you have the same issues if you select an alternate network?

Beyond that, please check out the private message I'm sending you so we can take a look at the account itself to see if there is anything out of place there.

You can find your PM inbox here. If you can't access this link, please ensure that the box next to "Turn on private messages" is ticked on this page, and let us know if you need any further assistance.
