iPhone 4S ... No Service

Hi guys, I'm new to posting in here!
I just got back from my easter break and I have my 4S all ready. But the signal keeps dropping out. I'm really close to my 7 days grace period and am a bit concerned that I'm going to get stuck with a dodgy phone on a long contract.
Around where I live it's pretty much edge. But I never had any issues with my HTC Desire on Vodafone. I'm going in on Monday to get a replacement SIM to see if that fixes the problem - is this unlikely to fix my problem?
Doing a little research suggests that it's probably not going to fix it. Is it likely that I would need to leave Vodafone to have the 4S in my house...My gf has the 4s on O2 with no issues at all.....
Some advice would be greatly appreciated guys.
Kind regards
Phil

Hi philpeck,
Welcome to the Vodafone eForum from all of the team.
When it comes to the iPhone 4 or 4s then it is always advisable to use a case with it to prevent interference between the antenna and your hand.
However, it is possible that there could be a network issue in the area that is causing this, if you can let me know your full postcode I will be able to get this checked out for you.
Alternatively you can also look at purchasing a Sure Signal that will give you perfect 3G coverage at home through your home Broadband.

Hi yoshikima,
When you say that this happens when connected to WIFI do you mean that your WIFI connection drops or the signal for the network drops?
If it’s your WIFI, then I would look at a repair to see if there is a faulty WIFI chip in the phone.
If it’s the phone signal please can you let me know the postcode of where this happens if it mainly happens in certain locations.
If this is everywhere, can I ask if you use a case on your phone?

Hi yoshikima
Thanks for your reply. The network dropping should have no bearing on your WiFi usage so if the videos are cutting out whilst connected to WiFi as well as the mobile network this is more than likely a hardware fault based on what you're saying.
Just to be sure, please could you provide the full postcode of the area that you're experiencing difficulty in? Also, does this happen in any other locations or just in this one location?
Thanks
Simon

Hi yoshikima,
Many thanks for getting back to us.
I have taken a look at the area for you and can see that there is currently a problem with your local site 4535 which has been raised to our engineers under reference 2377799.
From what I can see there has been an electrical fault at the site which is currently being rectified by a 3rd party.
At the moment we don’t have any timescales for a fix on this for you.
I can see that this has been added to our faults board for you, I would recommend registering for updates on the faults board and this will be updated when we have an update for you.

I have the same problem with both iPhone 4S and 4 (and a BlackBerry). Signal is very inconsistent usually. Signal drops and it doesn't come back unless I switch in/out of airplane mode. Is there a network issue in my area? Or is there something I can do with the phone settings?

Hi KJ001,
To rule out any network issues, can you please try the steps in our Network Troubleshooting thread.
If you are still experiencing the issue having completed these steps, post the template with your answers here and I'll have a member of the team get back to you ASAP.
Thanks
