iPhone 4S - full signal. Can't receive calls or texts

[ Edited ]

Hi, I'm having them same problem. I have now tried three sim cards on my iPhone 4s and I've tried all three sims in another 4s that I know works perfectly. Additionally apple kindly changed the handset so it's definitely not the phone. I have also done every reset and restore available on the phone. The symtoms started after trying to port my old number from O2 to Vodafone. Vodafone porting dept, after 15 days, said it wasn't the port. O2 tech dept looked into it for me and told me it has nothing to do with the O2 side. I can make calls and send texts but cannot receive either. The exception to this is that I can receive calls and texts from other Vodafone users. Anything from any other mobile or landline network receives the message "the number you have called is not recognised". It seems like it's a classic split service porting problem to me but with nobody at Vodafone owning the problem I am presently paying for a line that doesn't work!

Re: iPhone 4S - full signal. Can't receive calls or texts

Hi Jonfb,

Thanks for your post. It certainly does sound like a classic split service and we'll be able to find out what's going on at our end. If nothing is found then I'm afraid 02 will have to also check again.

I've sent you an email. Please reply with the requested details and we'll be in touch as soon as we can.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: iPhone 4S - full signal. Can't receive calls or texts

Hi Lee,

I have exactly the same problem as the original poster. Started brand new microsim Voda contract on 12/12/2011, port date (from an O2 contract) set for 13/11/2011. I now have split service as described above. I bought a new iphone 4s from apple store which arrived on 16/12/2011 and in the settings menu, under Phone, my number is coming up as "unknown". I also don't have iMessage or Facetime available. I have spoken to your porting department, I think 5 timesover the last 7 days and whilst they are trying their best, I am still without a useable phone!

Is there anything you would be able to check for me please?

Regards,

Joe Gros

Hi Joe Gros,

Thanks for posting, I'm sorry to hear you're having a similar issue. Have you also spoken to O2 to see if there's been an issue with the port out their end? If it is that our porting department are investigating this already for you, there's little else we can help with on my team. If they and O2 have both said there is nothing further they can find issue with, simply reply to the email I've sent to you. :smileywink:

Cheers, Ben

Re: iPhone 4S - full signal. Can't receive calls or texts

I am wondering if you could help me please?

I have a Vodafone SIM, and I ‘ve been a Vodafone customer for8years.  I am not receiving calls on my IPhone4s even though I have full signal!

When I try to call my number from another handset, I hear a ringing tone but the mobile doesn’t ring and I don’t get a miscall!

The Phone is brand new; I just bought it from the Apple store. I had a similar problem with the IPhone4 which I thought it was faulty, but now I realize it is not the phone.

I have done every reset and restore available on the phone including “the network”. It works for few minutes, but for e.g. if I open an App or the IPod, the problem reoccurs and I don’t receive calls.

One thing that I have notices while I was calling my number from another phone, the ringing tone is there, the mobile doesn’t ring, but during the call I turned on 3G and it rang!!!

Does this mean that I need 3G on all the time? How can it be possible?

is there anything you can do to help resolve this issue?

thanks in advance

Re: iPhone 4S - full signal. Can't receive calls or texts

Hi Hmirich

Thank you for your post and a very warm welcome to the eForum from myself and the team. :smileyhappy:

I understand that this can cause frustration as mobile devices are such an integral part of everyday life.

The iPhone 4S is a fantastic device however it only connects using the 3G network so you will need to have this enabled, on our devices the option to switch between 2G or GSM and 3G is not available.

Many Thanks
