Re: iPhone 4s Data Problems (Compiled threads)

LS3 is where I have most of my problems, but it's not just limited to this area.  As I sit here now my phone is saying '3G' but no apps are working, they all get connection errors.

Any update?  My phone is still saying 3G but has no connectivity.  This is not acceptable!

I'd just like to add that I spend 99% of my time in the LS1, LS2 and LS9 postcode districts and get problems in all three areas. LS1 is definitely the worst though.

Re: iPhone 4s Data Problems (Compiled threads)

Hi there alexward1981,

Thanks for your post about your experiences with the network in the postcode areas you've provided.

I'm afraid I'll need the full postcodes in order to nail down the serving sites and search for any localised issues. The postcode in your profile doesn't match any of the areas you've provided.

Have you checked our Faults Board? This has all the latest site issues we are aware of :smileywink:

Incidentally, here are two links to site issues in LS1 and LS9.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: iPhone 4s Data Problems (Compiled threads)

Well, I'm now 6 months into my Vodafone contract and have to say that after owning mobile phones for over 10 years this is the single worst experience I've ever had.

Ofcom should stop Vodafone advertising that they have 3G in Leeds, because they simply don't, oh unless you're outside, it's above 5 degrees centigrade and the wind is blowing in a certain direction.  I've tried everything, new iPhone, new SIM, factory reset, restore, network reset, yoga, meditation, the lot! you name, it I've tried it, my 3G coverage is simply awful!  And to top it all off, i've just moved into a flat in Roundhay (LS8) which has virtually no signal at all, so I've got from barely getting 3g coverage to barely being able to make/receive calls, whoopee!  I'm now using my iPhone 4S as a doorstop in the flat, since that's that's all it's good for, well actually, it also makes for a pretty good paper weight.

Sorry to vent but this appalling service from Vodafone has gone on far too long, I simply can't wait for this contract to end so that I can join my Girlfriend on o2 and go back to the halcyon days of 3g and full signals....

Re: iPhone 4s Data Problems (Compiled threads)

Ok - so, i've made some progress with my issue.

A little background first.....

Coming from HTC Android phones in the past, I've got a habit of always making sure my WIFI radio is turned off when i'm out and about to save battery life.....  I've also been doing this since owning my iPhone 4S.  Now, over the last few days i've decided not to do this and just leave it on.. and... low and behold... my 3G signal in Leeds is much better!!

I don't know why this is, perhaps the WIFI radio helps with the roaming or maybe turning WIFI off turns off one of the antennas in the phone that 3g also uses....  i'm not sure... but the last 24hrs have been much better.

That said, it could all just be a coincidence.... time will tell I guess.

Re: iPhone 4s Data Problems (Compiled threads)

Hi redmamoth

Thanks for the update. I can't see how having WiFi radio turned on would affect the 3G signal. It may be worth testing it again without the WiFi radio turned on to see if the coverage returns to it's previous state.

Please keep us updated as it would be interesting to find out if this is what has made the difference on your phone.

Thanks

Simon

Re: iPhone 4s Data Problems (Compiled threads)

Don't worry Simon, it must have just been a rare burst of good 3G signal in Leeds.  Normal service is now resumed.  To be honest, I'm not blaming you guys entirely, as my company blackberry, also on Vodafone, gets a much better signal.  I think it's the combination of the 4S with Voda.
