iPhone 4s - No service

Not sure if there is any other threads on this subject, but i am at my wits end with my phone. Its been working fine since day 1 of release, but over the last week my signal keeps dropping for no reason, even just laid on my desk. 1 minute I'll have full signal, the next it comes up with 'No service' It keeps jumping between these 2 and 'searching'. Keep getting call fails, and if someone tries to text me it pushes the signal out again.

Have tried the usual tricks. Resetting the Sim, full factory resets from both backup and brand new iPhone, also tried another micro Sim which still has the same problem. I'm 80 miles from the nearest Apple store and Vodafone have said it can take upto 2 weeks for a repair. Any ideas guys?

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

Hi spoulton and welcome to the eForum

Thanks for your post here. I’m very sorry to hear of the problems you are having with this. I appreciate how frustrating this must be for you.

Does this happen, just in one location or is it all over? If it’s one location then what is the full postcode? If it’s all over then it certainly looks like you handset has developed some sort of fault and would need to be sent away for repair. I appreciate that this isn’t convenient for you but it’s the best way to get your phone back up and running.

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

I have had exactly the same problem! Started on Monday and is doing this everywhere I am. I lose signal randomly and then it goes to no service, i am having trouble with people getting in contact with me and i dont even get a missed call remidner so i dont even know they have tried calling! this is very frustrating, i have tried hard resets manual roams differnent SIM and nothing works! Have you managed to sort anything out with yours? Mine has worked perfectly since i had it until Monday.

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

Thanks for transferring me here Lee. I'm not sure what postcode to supply as it is wherever i go in the country. My home postcode is CV34 6NB. I went to the Peak District at the weekend, which i expected to have poor signal, but even when the other 11 people i was with had average/good signal i had none. I couldn't make or receive calls all weekend and when checking the other phones they were all working. Please help!

Hi Lee,

I experience this issue almost constantly, and as the OP said, it only seems to have started in the last few weeks. No software update installed on the phone or anything.

Two full postcodes I can identify this happening at:

Work: SW19 7QW

Home: SL4 6LY

it's important to note that at home I use a SureSignal device. The phone is suitably registered to it, and still it experiences the exact same issues being discussed here. My housemate has a regular iPhone 4 rather than 4S, also on Vodafone. This hasn't experienced a single problem.

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

So do I get any answer to this? I'm getting tired of hitting dead ends with Vodafone. I need a resolution whether that be you can fix it or my contract is cancelled and i have to move networks.

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

Hi garethdore and kinetix63

Thanks for coming back to us here.

If this happens everywhere you go then this is not a network fault and instead, will be a fault with the handset.

Please pop into a Vodafone store and have the phone sent away for repair. For more information on what you need to do check the link below;

Vodafone Repairs

Before you send the phone away, as in store for a SIM replacement just to rule out the SIM

Thanks

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

I don't think losing my phone for a couple of weeks is going to work for me. I called Vodafone this morning and they have told me that reinstalling the phone's software will 100% fix the problem. Maybe this should be suggested before sending the phone off

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

If the 4S is faulty and a repair will cause you inconvenience, aren't Vodafone required by law to offer you a replacement??

iPhone 4s - No service

The signal on my iPhone 4S is very poor especially in comparison to the signal my friends have. For example, indoors especially at school I will have limited if not no signal, where as others have almost full (and 3G - I have a small circle next to 1 bar). It isn't just at school, it's in lots of places where I have noticed the signal to be significantly worse than others.

Re: iPhone 4s - No service

Hi yoshikima,

To rule out any network issues, can you please try the steps in our Network Troubleshooting thread.

If you are still experiencing the issue having completed these steps, post the template with your answers here and I'll have a member of the team get back to you ASAP.

Thanks

Hi yoshikima

If there's a fault registered on the Faults Board then I'd recommend subscribing to the thread. Once you're subscribed we'll send an e-mail update directly to you with further information and updates.

Thanks

Simon

I am having the same issue. First time I have had a phone on contract but I lose signal all the time if not that then 3G goes off I am sitting in a house like 5 min walk from a town centre and I have one bar! About 3 mins away from where I am I have no signal.

Is there an issue with voda? This is not a good service for the price!

My post code

Any help will be good
Thank you
