I ordered the iphone 4s white 16gb on monday 17th october as they let me upgrade 4 months earlier than i was supposed to. the lady said i would receive the phone between 4-7 days and i haven't received any texts saying it's delayed so assume everything is ok?! i received my order processed successfully email and i have payed the £49 for phone etc....but people are saying its like 2 weeks or more but some people have got them last few days. can someone please HELP and someone from vodafone please email me so they can check my order number please

The timescales we give are the longest we're envisaging the wait to be. As soon as stock is available the orders are being met. This is why you'll be seeing people getting their deliveries over the last few days.
Until the handset is sent out, the card issuer will only have ringfenced the funds as well as we will not claim them until dispatch.
Can I check if the handset or any notification has been received since your post?

When you place an online order the funds are only ringfenced in your account until your phone is despatched, so although the money doesn't show in your account the bank doesn't release the funds to Vodafone until we request them.
If after a few days your bank have reason to believe that the funds will not be taken they will make them available in your account again. Vodafone will still attempt to take the funds from your account before despatching your handset.
Has your price plan and contract length changed in My Account? If so the order will have been processed successfully and it will just be a case of waiting for stock to arrive to fulfill the back order. As soon as your order is fulfilled you'll receive further notifications to confirm the phone is on its way.

Firstly, I should point out that I am only registering here because I am so livid with this debacle. I ordered my upgrade online on Sunday, was assured that the delivery would be 2-4 days and that I would receive confirmation of despatch via text and email. Today is Friday and I have heard NOTHING from Vodafone. Not confirmation or an apology for the delay. I only found out that there was a delay when I went on online chat to find out what was going on!
This whole situation is an absolute disgrace. There has been the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 and STILL vodafone haven't managed to get there stock situation in order! They still haven't learnt that these things sell like mad and that they need a larger stock!!!
I am SO close to cancelling my upgrade and going into town to the O2 store (where I have been assured I may take home my 16GB Black 4S TODAY) and take out a contract with them.
I would urge everyone who's in the same boat as me to write a letter of complaint to the address on their complaints page.
We're being told to be patient because of stock problems - WHY should we?! We're paying large sums of money for our contracts and handsets! We're not children waiting for a new toy! We've paid for them, so Vodafone should honour their side of the deal and deliver when they say they will!
I've heard 2-4 days, 1-2 weeks, 2-3 weeks, 4-7 days, tomorrow, Monday, Tuesday ... WHEN exactly are we going to receive our phones?

I'm sorry to hear that you are still waiting for your deliveries.
I'm popping you each an email so we can look into what's happened to delay this - just reply back with the requested details.
Our stock availability thread is updated regularly to reflect the current levels, so the best way to see when stock is in is to keep an eye on this thread. As soon as your handsets are received they will be sent out to you.

Firstly Simon I ordered over the phone not online and at the time of purchase why was i told 2-4 days? so the money is back in my accont and vodafone will take it again when my phone is dispatched?? whenever that is?
DDJi couldnt agree more! i ordered on 17th and i know people that ordered the next day on 18th and recieved their phone the very next day!!! its awful isnt, espesh pre-orders its unfair and false advertising to us customers!!! i spoke to someone today who said they are getting stock in yes but they are going straight back out to back orders!so if hats the case why are people who preordered and people who ordered around 16th 17th still waiting!! i really dont get what is going on! someone needs to be honest to us customers! were the ones who keep their company going! the truth would be better than trying to sugar coat it with lies lol so annoying! im suppose to get mine by monday/tuesday ( fingers crossed)

Here's the deal. If I don't hear anything conclusive by tomorrow regarding WHERE my iPhone 4S is and WHEN I shall receive it, I am cancelling my upgrade, just as my friends and family are going to. And I encourage everyone else to do the same and go to the O2 store and buy one from them, where they have abundant stock.

I left Vodafone over 5 years ago due to a number of issues including the appalling level of customer service. I decided to come back to Vodafone as i was told that it had improved. HOW WRONG WAS I.....................
I placed a order on Wednesday 19th October and it told me that there was stock and I would receive the order within 2-4 working days. Surprise surprise I never received a order update and when I spoke to customer services I was told that the phone was out of stock and had been for over a week even though it showed being in stock on-line....................
Since then I have been told it will dispatch on monday (today) even though there is no stock.
It will dispatch on Tuesday when the delivery arrives?
I should receive the handset by Friday.
I need to be patient as I am being unreasonable
I do not know how Vodafone works and no one on Vodafone knows when the stock is being delivered not even the logistic department. It seems Vodafone just wait until the truck arrives and then dispatch. ie: do not communicate with there suppliers/partners and have a supply chain policy
I am personally sick to death hearing about how wonderful Vodafone are and wish there could actually do some basic customer service

I just wish someone would respond to me with when my handset is going to be sent as i also keep getting told different time scales and am waiting from my post first thing this morning on this forum to be responded to. Vodaphone will have no customers left eventually if some answers arent given soon. This saddens me. I just want my phone. And thanks for cutting off all my Blackberry features as i can no longer access my emails.

I agree with the above 2 posters. It's an absolute disgrace. I paid for my upgrade on Monday 17th (1 week ago) and aside from an email confirmed they'd received my money, I've heard nothing!! It's beyond unbelieveable! What sort of a farcical business protocol are they using?! How hard can it be to provide enough stock for all your orders and send them out to your customers?! I would have thought that it's something of a prerequisite for any business!!
I'm so p****d off at this constant "1-2 weeks. We don't know when more stock is coming in but as soon as it does we will despatch your handset. I understand your frustration. We understand that it's frustrating."
JUST LET ME PICK UP MY HANDSET FROM MY LOCAL VODAFONE STORE, WHICH HAS ABUNDANT STOCK!

Hi again guys,
We're working to fill all the outstanding back-orders in order as soon as stock is received. Some models may be in stock sooner than others, so it may appear that they are dispatched out of sequence but rest assured that people who have ordered the same handset as you two or three days later won't get theirs before any successful orders placed previously.
We are getting in as much stock as we can as quickly as we can, but we cannot see when any individual delivery will happen and exactly which handsets will be dispatched until it arrives. The stock thread I linked to above will keep you up to date with the information we get.
If for any reason you wish to confirm that your order is successfully in the queue, you can do so by posting your order reference and the date of the order here.

Dave without wishing to sound rude I'm afraid I have to disagree with your statement 'rest assured that people who have ordered the same handset as you two or three days later won't get theirs before any successful orders placed previously' - someone who ordered the exact same model as me (white 16GB) has just posted on the forum to say she's received her dispatch email even thought she ordered the day after me! She is a new customer and not an exisiting customer though.......
