If I order today, would the phone and micro sim be available for collection from Chiswick branch on Thursday of this week?

The stores, as a guide, will hold onto a handset for approximately 5 days, but I cannot give a hard and fast guarantee.
What I'd recommend is, once you get the delivery date, to call that day to check the handset is there and advise when you can pick it up. You would need ID to collect it, so make sure you have this with you.
Alternatively, a delivery can be sent to your home address or, if you're an existing Vodafone customer, to another specified address, so there are options available.
However you want to proceed, if you follow the instructions here for contacting our upgrade specialists and they can set the order up for you.

So, if ordered today or tomorrow, when would it be at a store? I seem to see anything from next day, 2-4 days and some people mentioning significant delays. Just looking to clarify that it would be in a store (Ealing or Chiswick) by Thursday for collection.

Don't worry, barring stoc plummeting just before you order it'll be more an issue of "will it still be there" than "will it arrive"!
Delivery timescale is exactly the same as to your home address. If you order early enough, then the phone will be delivered for collection next business day if that's what you're after.
Most of the mentions of delay that you're referriong to on the eForum are concerning phones not in stock, which means that the order is queued until we get more supplies in. If it's in when you order then there's no such delay and you'll get a series of confirmations as the phone moves from placing the order to dispatch to confirm things are moving along.

I ordered it last night with delivery to the Chiswick store so hoping they manage to hold onto it until Thursday. Looking forward to picking it up
