No data on GRPS or EDGE (Fine on 3G / 4G)

Hello everyone,

 

We have a business account with three iPhones. They are iPhone 4s, 5 and 5s. All three devices show exactly the same issue.

 

In any location, if connected via GRPS or EDGE, no data can be transferred at all. No email, iMessage, not even a single character from a web site. 3G on all the devices work fine. 4G on the 5s works ok as well.

 

We have carried out network settings resets, reset all settings, tried in different locations from the Highlands of Scotland to London. The iPhone 5s has had remote sim resets/updates. It never works.

 

1) Does the issue happen in just one location? If so, how far do you have to travel to regain service?

GPRS and EDGE data does not work anywhere.

 

 

2) What is the full postcode (e.g. ST1 1AA) of where the issue occurs? If you don't want this showing on the eForum, add it to your profile here.

3) Does the issue occur if you try your SIM card in a different phone?

With the limited swapping we can do between iPhones... no, it doesn't make a difference.

 

4) What errors are seen or heard when the issue occurs?

No errors are displayed, other than data time-outs, i.e. Safari web site timing out, iMessages not being sent, etc.

 

5) Does this happen on 2G, 3G, 4G or all?

Only on 2G (GRPS) and EDGE data.

    

6) When did you first notice this issue?

Pretty much since we joined Vodafone, which was a few years ago!

 

7) Is the issue permanent or intermittent? If intermittent, are there certain times of the day when it occurs?

Permanent.

Roughly the same thing happening to em....even on full 3G signal the internet only works here and there. All my friends on vodafone are having the same issue

It is a little disappointing that I've had no feedback from Vodafone regarding this issue.

I'll just have to call in and ask for help.

I appreciate that this is happening across three different iPhones. Do you get the same issue if you put the SIM in a non-Apple handset?

Thanks for getting back to me.

 

I'm afraid we don't have any non-Apple phones to swap our SIMs on to. Everyone else in the office just happens not to be on Vodafone, and are SIM locked to their respective networks.

 

I would like to add that I am already on to my second SIM for my iPhone 5s.

So that we can investigate this further, we’ll need some specific examples of failed GPRS connections to see what’s causing the issue.

I have submitted the form/email details as requested.

And if by sods law, I did manage to transfer some data over 2G for the first time yesterday, the first time in many months. It was not very reliable. I have given more details in the form/email.

I have the same issue as Mark, iPhone 5. Only one contract, thank goodness. On holidays now, having to look for a Wifi hotspot because there is only Edge here on Vodafone. Absolutely useless.

Yes, I have tried all the below.
BT55 also BT1.

Release me from this mess, three other networks here BT55 have 3G!

It doesn't matter where it is Edge doesn't give me any data throughput. I have had a new sim. I even got an iPhone 5 replaced by Apple about a year ago because this was a suggestion, the phone was faulty which is nonsense.
