iPhpone 5 Not Connecting to 3G

My iPhone 5 hasn't been able to connect to 3G since yesterday morning, but it can coonect to the internet via wifi. I've followed the guides on both the Apple and Vodafone website, but to no avail. After a call to Vodafone, I was informed that it was due to a system error related to the lanch of the iPhone 6 and the release of IOS 8, and that this was a system wide fault. I am somewhat sceptical, if this is indeed the cause of my problem, wouldn't there be something on the Vodafone website, or am I being somewhat naive?

I've got an iPhone 5s and haven't had any issues.
