As asked in the topic heading

Do Vodafone Pixels get the monthly security updates, like a Pixel brought directly from Google?

Or do Vodafone hold the updates back like on other handsets?

Hi @KNOBBY101

Google Pixel smartphones are Google develeped and designed, and succeeded Nexus phones, Vodafone can't go adding their software or branding to a Google device.

The Google Pixel is pure Android, that means there are no added extra network applications or software and you will receive security and Google updates as soon as available.

Vodafone would only be able to test firmware updates and security Patches for phones that are branded before allowing the updates to be sent out.

i.e. have Vodafones brand of firmware on them.

Phones that are unbranded have their updates sent out via the manufacturer etc.

Some further information in Learn when you'll get Android updates on Pixel phones & Nexus devices.

Thanks for the reply.

Are Google Pixel 3 branded by Vodafone ? Or left as Google intended?

From Pay-monthly/Wifi-Calling-on-Pixel-3-and-Pixel-3XL.

However the iPhone and the Pixel phones don't have this - they have one single version of their firmware that is controlled centrally by Apple/Google. The operator submits their settings and they're included in the software or downloaded on demand when a SIM from X operator is detected. "
