Galaxy S7 EDGE wifi calling, no option

I have just upgraded last week, i received the phone yesterday, brand new galaxy S7 edge. I have a pay monthly red value plan so i should have wifi calling enabled, and have been told by several advisors that i do have wifi calling and it IS enabled (from their end).

I've now spoken to 5 advisors, on phone and online, they all told me moreorless the same. They had "activated" it on their end....well how can you activate something more than once?

The PROBLEM is that there is no option in my phone to enable wifi calling, anywhere....ive restarted the damned thing 10 times now after being told "restart then go to settings...." sent the text saying "CALLING" to 97888 and received the reply. Its been over 24 hours since i recieved the reply from them, and still i have no option to enable it. Im at my wits end, somebody please help.

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the problems you're all currently having with Wi-Fi Calling.

As far as we're aware at the moment, the next software update will push through a fix for this. As @DaneB advised, we've fed it back and will update the thread when we have any further information.

I had been using Wi-fi calling regularly on my Samsung S7. Latest update wiped the option completely from my phone.

Live chat established that my account has it enabled.

Obviously a problem with the latest update.

Please, please give us a fix soon. My Vodafone service is dreadful here, we have virtually no signal. If we can't even use Wifi calling either, then all 3 of the Vodafone handsets in our household are rendered useless! We will all be switching our contracts to another provider unless it is fixed quickly.

Just to add

I had this problem and VODAFONE managed to sort it out but it seems there is not one solution

with all the threads and there is a lot

From what I have read this problem seems different for each and every device

On top of that there is the allegibility criteria the right price plan and device

So if all that's ok going of the Android forums and I read most

It could be certain apps causing it not to function I have even read on gsm a lot believe gmail could be the problem

But whatever it is it must be causing Vodafone a migraine they could do without

And if they could press a button and it all gets sorted I'm pretty certain they would of used it

It seems they are having to deal with each and every one as a separate issue

But nearly all get it eventually I say nearly all as a lot don't acknowledge when there issues are fixed

I understand the inconvenienced and some depend on it

My device would be useless without it at my ma's as she live's on the out skirts of a small village

But if you are allegible for it I'm sure you will get via an update or following the steps the

CC's have posted

There was one thread on here and this was about a week ago had over 150 posts

But it does seem each and every case is different and I think that's why it can not be remedied immediately

Just hang fire and keep checking via the procedures mentioned in the main thread

And as an example you mentioned the last update removed it

Well for me it was the opposite the last update gave it to me

So that in itself says a lot

And I also believe Samsung have a lot to answer on this one

All though they seem to point the finger else were

The WiFi calling problems are down to Vodafone it's self it has not got anything to do with Samsung or Android. When the mobile networks receive any kind of updates from Samsung or Android they mess around with them like adding the company's bloatware or taking things out changing system information and this is were the problems start and apps you already had on your phone suddenly go missing or do not work anymore and you have to wait weeks if not months on them releasing a fix to solve the problems they coursed in the first place. If mobile company's want to brand there phones that's all fair and well but instead of all the bloatware you add to the updates why not just put your company's logo onto the phone and leave out the bloatware that your customers don't want. I personally never use a branded phone from any mobile network I buy my phone's undranded and simfree this way I have more control and get my updates direct from Samsung/Android instead of Vodafone.

I had the same problem for about 1 year on my s7. I got it fixed today! It seems that the android software update wipes the wifi calling from the phone and Vodafone do not issue a refresh. What I did was as follows:

1. Go to My Vodafone and remove the wifi calling option.

2. Wait 24 hours (or until the option is no longer showing on My Vodafone).

3. Send text message: CALLING to 97888.

4. When you get the message that wifi calling is enabled, the option should now be on your phone.

PS: Vodafone advisers completely in the dark. They told me it was a problem with my phone as wifi calling was alreay set up at their end. This simple fix should be top of their list.

Hello again.

I understand your frustration as i went through it twice myself.

First was my wife's phone brand new Galaxy A5 2017 and Wi Fi calling option was not available in the menu. Wi Fi calling option appeared after asked Vodafone for 20 times to send me correct config settings. I swapped sim card around few times and config message finally arrived. installed restarted and Wi Fi calling option magiacally appeared.

Exactly the same issue with my recently upgraded s7 edge . No wi fi calling option in the menu and phone would not receive the config text even after swapping sim cards. I than copied the settings for APN from my wife's phone and after doing factory reset registered APN as I have described in a previous post. Result was the Wi Calling option appeared. I will attach few pictures to confirm

Hi Plasmaticfever,

Have you tried this open phone dialer press the 3 black dots top right hand corner of phone then press settings scroll down and you should find WiFi calling there slide button to the right and this will enable the WiFi calling features.

Hope this helps

Hi stevie1

I know this is nothing to do with WiFi calling but I've noticed you've been demoted as well

Not a big deal I know but at least your 2 steps in front of me

To be honest I was surprised I got as far as I did

But just to let you know they are aware of it and is being monitored

Feel like I'm so the naughty corner

But keeping my finger on the lips is out of the question😉

@djbabz @deboralena So we can take a closer look into this for you, I've sent you both a private message with details to contact our team directly.

We'll be in touch to help as soon as possible.

I too just bought a Galaxy S7, because of its supposed wifi calling and I only wish I'd read this thread earlier!

No option for wifi calling on my phone 😞

Four chats with 'technical' specialists have left me frustrated and the problem is still outstanding.

Fortunately, I still have 10 days of my 'cooling off' period, and if there is no solution by then, I will cancel everything and go to EE who seem to have sorted out any issues.
