So the Huawei issue with Google seems to be escalating substantially and there seems to be hardly any action from anyone.
All we get told is to go to Vodafone Forums and all they say is that current devices will work but future devices won't, have they been reading news current devices are being affected as well.
Better actions and steps need to be taken as soon as possible as its not fair on us as customers.
The short answer is that no-one knows. This is a worldwide problem that's going to have to be resolved somehow and we consumers are pawns in a trade war. The only real solution is for that to end. Huawei function perfectly well in China without Google, but that's a very different market. Continued supply of devices will also be affected by chip availability - although their main processor is their own, there are a lot of ancillary parts that are affected by the embargo - they say they've built up stock so have a buffer for now at least.
The sensible route, if you're interested in protecting individuals who have no control in this situation, would be to allow current devices to continue to function as they do now, even if they don't get platform updates. I'm not sure it's clear whether existing implementations will get security patches, but not all devices do anyway. And, of course, we're not living in a sensible world.
