It might be worth trying to pair the watch with a different phone, this will determine if it is a watch or phone issue.
Garmin support should be able to give further advise and an indication as to whether it is software incompatability with the P20 or a fault with the watch bluetooth.

As this will be a watch issue and not a phone or network issue, you need to speak to Garmin Support, they will be able to give the best advise on compatability with your new phone.
